Wouldn't do it again!

Although the Mattress Factory has some fantastic units, I cannot say that the problems encountered made up for it.
Although Michael Thomas is a very nice person, it was hard to find him when he was running around like a chicken without his head. Leaving a voicemail did not imply a return call. His assistant was more concerned with being young and pretty than being efficient or helpful. Dealing with her was a very frustrating experience.
If you have maintenance problems, be prepared for waits, incompetents, and even lies. I was shocked that some things took three separate attempts and days to get properly repaired. There were times I thought the maintenance man was living with me due to his frequent visits and repairs of relatively minor issues. It got to the point that I dreaded anything going wrong as to not have to deal with him again.
The appliances were top-notch and all stainless steel. Great wooden floors, very high ceilings and fantastic view. No matter how many attempts were made, heating and air could not be regulated evenly. One room would be freezing while the other was an oven, all while your meters were running up the high bills.
The Marta system is relatively quiet, but the rude awakening was the CSX freight trains. Expect unGodly screeching all during the night which was worse than finger nails on a chalkboard. Think of that sound about 10,000 decibles higher in the wee hours. A full night' sleep never existed during the term of the lease.
The caliber of tenants seem to drastically decrease during our one year stay there. Parties and live bands on the roof top in the wee hours while the security guard was no where to be found. Add to that the numerous times the building alarms would go off with all lights flashing at 1am, 2am and later. We even had to take charge of the situation as everyone walked around aimlessly. Drunks in the hallways, fire extinguishers sprayed on cars ... you name it.
Forget it when it rains. They have permanent buckets in the hallways for any signs of rain. Most of the times, the buckets either overflowed, or the rain missed the bucket with sopping wet hallway floors. In the whole year there, it was the same situation from day 1 to day 365.
Parking was horrendous. Inconsiderate people parking everywhere. Don't dare leave at night as you will have no place to park when you return. Gates doesn't definitely suggest security. Far from it. Numerous break-ins to vehicles, as well as those stolen.
I think had Michael had more help, and decent help, things could have been slightly better. More importantly, if they better screened those coming in, a lot of the nuisances could have been avoided. We felt that they were more concerned with filling the units with warm bodies. Sad, but true considering the rent being paid.
Perhaps things have turned around since our residency. Michael did all he could with what he had. Between incompetent help and his hands tied behind his back with corporate orders, there isn't much he could do. You have to give him credit though, he took it all in stride, and with a smile on his face.
