*Edit: Just days after posting this review, someone on my floor was robbed at gunpoint in the parking deck. Yes, robbed. Yes, at gunpoint. Yes, INSIDE the gated parking deck. The people who robbed him were friends of a RESIDENT, and they were staying in the building. They had keys. If that doesn't tell you what kind of people they let move in here, I don't know what will. And sure, you can get robbed anywhere, but you shouldn't have to worry about it happening inside your "secure" parking garage, and you shouldn't have to be afraid of your neighbors and the company they keep.*
While the list of undesirable things about this location is considerable, let me highlight the ten that have bothered me the most: 1. There have been several car and apartment break-ins right around the time rent is due. I don't feel safe here. 2. The fire alarms go off in the middle of the night at least once a week due to inconsiderate residents and their guests refusing to quit smoking in the elevators. Once, the complex put up a sign to discourage smoking in the elevators, and someone burned it with a cigarette. These people are going to be your neighbors. 3. The noise from people's balconies and from the pool can be heard from everywhere in the building, and there are several residents who feel that it's acceptable to scream at eachother on their balconies at 3 a.m. on weeknights. There are many students here as well, and they tend to have a lot of loud parties. 4. Bugs! I'm probably the cleanest person I know, and since moving in, we've had ants and most recently, cockroaches. They probably come in from the giant space between the front door and the floor that opens into an unenclosed hallway. That crack also makes the kitchen and living space impossible to warm in the winter. 5. Many residents have children, which wouldn't be a problem, except they let them play in the parking garage unattended, where they could easily be hit by a car. 6. The leasing office is terrible about responding to maintenance requests. Once, I waited two weeks for a lightbulb to be changed, and it wasn't a lightbulb I could have replaced myself. 7. My whole floor reeks of marijuana smoke. Sometimes, it comes into my apartment through the vented door where the hot water heater is. There is nothing worse than smoke getting into your belongings, especially if you, yourself, do not smoke. 8. The trash is a huge problem. It's everywhere. The garbage chutes get clogged midweek, and then people just throw their garbage all over the parking deck. 9. There are no consequences for people who are not handicapped parking in the handicapped spots. If you need a close space because you have a disability, your lazy neighbors won't care. 10. The building has remained, for the most part, empty. It seems that the leasing company is getting desperate to fill the units because the neighbor problems and the noise just keep getting worse and worse, driving good, quiet renters away. Atlantic Station as a whole is a depreciating location, and if the company owning the apartments and condos around here don't know it yet, they're in trouble. Rent keeps going up and quality keeps going down. I had a better experience living in a 900 dollar a month unit on Peachtree.

I have been advised by a friend that if you don't feel safe in a community the management is obligated to let you out of your lease. Communicate your concern to the managment in writing and demand to be let out of your lease.

Fifth. The leasing office let those people out of their lease, they said, and then served them with an eviction when they paid the pro-rated amount they were told to pay for their last week. Nice, eh?

I do agree with this response. I only have one month living here and within the FIRST weekend of moving here, I had a really bad experience with the noise in the pool area. There were a bunch of "college kids" hanging out at 3 am drinking beer and taking a SWIM in the pool! I had to call the cops after yelling out the window a couple of times did not help! What surprised me is that there was only about 2 people that yelled out their window for these people to get out the pool. What I really wanted to do was go down and beat the crap out of these idiots. I mean how in the world do you just yell and laugh out loud and just act stupid in a pool area knowing that neighbors are sleeping at 3am!!!. I could not believe that I had moved from my condo unit that was privately owned where neighbors respected each other, to this type of college environment (so many students in the building who are on their own for the first time and dont really care about maintaining the premises). Then to my surprise the SECOND weekend of my move, there were another group of younger folks taking another swim again this time around 2am, we had to call the cops again!!!...The most annoying part of all is that we dont even have a month living here. During the weekdays the most annoying part is when these college kids go to the pool area (as if working adults dont live in this building!!) in the WEEKDAY and hang out until 3am and start talking and laughing out loud and smoking as if this was a common area!! GO BACK INTO YOUR APT TO TALK AND SOCIALIZE!!!! This has been the worst experience I have to say, it has been a big let down with the noise and younger crowd who dont have respect for their neighbors...Another thing about the bugs, I have not experienced any bugs in my house, BUT when i moved in i did find a dead roach in the bathroom, THAT WAS DISGUSTING! we checked out the apt to make sure that we wont have those nasty bugs around, but there were none, so i am assuming that the people who lived here before were dirty and left them in the apt...So far i have seen none, but the review was right in that they can come under the door since there's such a big gap under the door!
So far i rate this apt complex a 3 out of a 10...If the noise keeps up, and management does not get tough on their tenants, I am out of here!!!!
