A Collegiate Housing Project....

I stayed @ MetroPointe between February-October 2006. Overall (while I lived there), the place was clean & sterile. The pool was a major plus (pool parties were monumentally fun). Also, the views of the aTL skyline are amazing - depending on which side of the building(s) you live on....I always went on the parking deck to get a better panoramic view. It does offer shuttle service to&fro' school [GA Tech, GA State, AUC, North Ave MARTA Station]...& I went to Morehouse....so it was pretty convenient. Each bedroom has its own bathroom --- major plus.

HOWEVER....

....for a place that houses so many college students, the computer lab was just [literally] a closet with six modules...always a long line waiting. This was before they installed free wireless internet, so I don't know how it is now. It seemed like the leasing office was just letting ANYBODY stay there!!! The crowd was starting to get very...hmmmm.....'hood'...for the lack of a more politically-correct term.

While I was there, shuttle service was restricted to Monday-Friday....& about 75% of the students who stayed there did'nt have vehicles...so on weekends...you were stranded unless you walked 10-15min up the hill to catch the sporadic #1 Coronet Way bus....or knew somebody with a car.

The shuttles were always PACKED...especially coming from North Ave MARTA Station...I know they've added more shuttles now...but hopefully, they've added weekend services as well. Rent is EXPENSIVE --- unless you have (1) Parents paying (2) Financial Aid taking care of it all...you might as well get your own place where @ least a few of the utilities would be included. Oh yea...utilities are NOT included. The parking deck might as well have a "RAID ME" billboard posted on top of it --- lots of break-in's....robbery occurrences there.

Oh yea...my laptop was stolen from one of the study rooms April 2006....the Leasing Office was extremely unhelpful about the entire situation. They had the entire incident on surveillance & STILL refused to disclose any information to me [ERICA was nice...but wasn't really on her job]. Speaking of the leasing office...the people who work there are dimwits & usually don't know what they're talking about.

OH YEA!!!! The trains! Metropointe is RIGHT BESIDE a major freight line & they make the most noise @ NIGHT!!!

Overall.....
...don't stay @ MetroPointe. For a still-brand-new facility, its ran more like a housing project than an upscale collegiate community. The location is great...but the price is unreasonable for most college students.
