Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
PROS:
We get a private bus. It takes us to the train station and picks us up. Also on specified times/days, it takes us to walmart.
We get a private bed/bath.
We have a HUGE swimming pool that is actually clean.
The one and only vending machine is pretty cheap.
They sometimes have free snacks in the lobby and gameroom.
The security and faculty (from what I have experienced) is really nice.
The mailboxes are conveniently placed.
We get a washer and dryer in each room.
CONS:
First off: Yes, metropointe is improving.
BUT YOU SHOULD NOT HOUSE STUDENTS IN THESE CONDITIONS!!!!!!
You do not put 18, 19, 20 years in a place that is "improving."
We have a large amount of security officers at any given time. Yes.
They are extreme about checking IDs on residents.
Which, at Metropointe, is good.
But they don't do anything about the excessive noise, the partying, the fire alarms, the drug trafficking, the alcohol, etc.
Maybe they can't' I don't know.
The fire alarms go off multiple times per week at any given hour, USUALLY because of pranks.
When we do have actual fires, the halls will be filled with the extinguisher residue all over the floors, steps and halls.
Some of the residents are NASTY and were obviously NOT disciplined in ANY sort of fashion. Girls, YOUNG WOMEN throwing their nasty tampons out the windows. People leave trash in the stairwells (which smell like urine and fecal matter.)
Some of the people that I have met and see daily are very nice and very respectful people. But there's still the huge handful that do not respect anyone, not even themselves.
And housing 5 different colleges together' Wow.
And the PRICE'
For a 4 bedroom, 4 bath, EACH RESIDENT PAYS $3000 !
There's no carpet, either. The brochures make it seem beautiful. I thought I was moving into a very nice apartment.
Then I got here.
Yes, they provide water, electricity, basic cable, and furnishings. But each resident has to pay a thousand bucks.
Maintenance is also pretty slow. Our last roommate broke our sink, and it has been stopped up for about 2 weeks.
When I moved here in March, our television didn't work. I'm moving out in a week and it still doesn't.
Electrical outlets are broken, our faucet is busted. Our dishwasher makes unhealthy noises and rarely washes thoroughly.
Oh yes. And the train that is 500 feet from the building.
I really feel bad for the hall that is right next to the tracks. I believe rooms 20-30 are there on any given floor.
