New Management Are Horrible, Apartment is Going Downhill

I have lived here for a year and a half and am now just waiting for my lease to run out. This used to be a quiet, sleepy little community with decent amenities and cool people under good management. Since the new management has taken over, the place is going downhill.

They are no longer as careful to whom they rent and consequently a lot of old residents are moving out and they are being replaced by rowdy new residents. This place used to be serene and quiet. Now I have kids screaming unsupervised throughout the courtyard on the weekends and lots more college students moving in and throwing late night parties. One of my neighbor??s friends decided it would be ??cool?? to knock on their door at 2am while screaming for them to come out. It was so loud it woke me up (from my bedroom with the door closed) because it seemed like they were knocking on my door. This went on for five minutes. Apparently they then got in, because an hour later they left again with great fan fare. There have been many such incidents as this.

The management office is also never open or staffed when they say they have office hours. The only time I??ve ever been able to get in is when I sat outside the door for a half hour on a Saturday waiting for someone to show. The person I spoke to was nice, but useless. Today I had a package that I need for work tomorrow delivered and signed for by the office. I left work early to be here at 5:15, well before their 6pm closing time. Well, they were closed for the day. Calls and messages to the after hours service and the management office went unreturned.

On an admittedly more petty note, I hate the new landscaping mostly because it screams ??cost cutting lower maintenance??. They took away all the grass but as a lot of us have dogs, we liked the grass. I also miss the fountains, hate the new ??rock gardens??, and the mulching over all the natural pine and tree cutting. The grounds also stay messier longer (used food around the bbq areas, broken kids toys in the yard for a week) and are messier in general due to the disrespect of the new residents.

Other complaints: They allow my neighbors cat to roam free (even though I have complained about this) and it??s come on my patio twice and into my apartment once. The gate, which used to work 70% of the time, now works 30% of the time. So much for security. My upstairs neighbors?? fridge leaked Freon through my kitchen ceiling. The old management promised to paint and fix my ceiling, the new management refused because it didn??t happen under their watch.

I took this apartment because it was a good space/location/price/amenities/cool residents trade off. I??m now watching my neighbors leave as their leases come due and the new management jacks their rent and wishing mine were up sooner. Don??t be fooled by the advertising, these are NOT luxury apartments. If you are young, college student-ish, then these still may be the apartments for you. If you have outgrown your frat days and are looking for somewhere to be an adult and be treated like one, then this isn??t the community for you. Go around the corner on Cheshire Bridge and you can get a newer, much better apartment for the same amount of money in one of several communities.

I have been a resident of this community for many years and i have experienced many management changes. Along with those changes curent residents should extend the courtesy to allow the new management a chance to prove themselves. As for those kids they were here before the new management because I live in the same building. The landscaping is actually very nice!! The water fountains never worked anyway. I have spoken with the management on several occassions and they have always been very polite and knowledgable. They are also in the process of excuting over 1 million dollars worth of renovations. I recently renewed my lease and took a $50 increase which is reasonable considering the changes in the near future. This to me sounds like one isolated experience.
