Oak Pointe looks simple enough. Old school construction, thin as paper windows, thin as paper walls, and no insulation will make you rethink the move in the week after you've already committed to a lease.
Amenities' None. Oh, there is a laundry room. With 8 washers and 8 dryers for about 100 apartments. Do your laundry at night during the week, or you will never be able to get it done.
Parking' Beyond tight. Many people have dings on their bumpers, and in some areas if someone doesn't pull up all the way, you simply cannot get by.
Grounds' Upkeep seems to take place monthly, which would be fine if they also cleaned up all the trash left by the college students and druggies everywhere.
Safety' My apartment was broken into. How safe do you think I felt after that'
Construction' Crappy. Cracks in the walls due to "settling" is what they will say. Landings are rusted. Windows have long since needed to be updated. No insulation! I paid through the nose to keep my apartment warm in the winter and comfortable in the Summer. And since it's concrete, it bakes in the sun. This summer, we had 2 weeks where the apartment temp was never below 90.
Maintenance is spotty at best. They do some things, fall apart on others, do things that make no sense, and fail to fix even the simplest of issues (broken locks on windows).
Staff is okay, except for the fact that when more money or fees were coming they spring it on you at the last moment. I amj halfway convinced that this is Braden-Fellman policy to nickle and dime a tenant to death.
Some of the older neighbors are nice, but the student crowd, for the most part intolerable. Cigarette butts everywhere, parties at all hours of the day and night (yes, including week nights).
The management office is nice enough, but they exempt important information until it is far too late for you to do anything about it. I had a break-in at the apartment and it took them 72 hours to replace the window that was broken. In the meantime I had to live with a wooden board over my window. When I requested to transfer to another apartment when one was available they said no problem. Oh, they didn't mention the $300 transfer fee until the week of the planned move.
Also, beware if you have a roommate! I had put down the full security deposit on my solo apartment. When I transferred and got a roommate, apparently the security deposit that I had paid was put in both of our names and so was the refund. So, my ex-roommate, who did not put down any money on the security deposit, is now on a check that needs to be cashed. Thank you Braden-Fellman for giving someone half of the exorbitant security deposit you asked of me when I moved in, to someone else. In essence, I believe this to be how Braden-Fellman keeps your security deposit. My bank is refusing to cash the check as it is in BOTH of the tenant's names. So, now in order to get my security deposit money back, I will need to find my roommate. Go to my bank. Open a joint checking account. Put the check in. Wait for it to clear. Get the money out. and Close the Account. Yes, this is too much of a hassle for ANYONE to have to deal with. SCAM ARTISTS!
Overall' I will be avoiding all Braden-Fellman properties in the future and I will be telling my friends the same.

probably a little late for you now.. but you don't have to go through all that to get that check cashed. just need to have roommate sign it and it's all good.
