HIgh Crime- Insect Infested- Cheap Rent- Chateau le Ghetto

I completely agree with the other reviewers- you get what you pay for. I have lived here for 2 years and I am finally moving out. The only reason why I have not left sooner is because Kelly was nice enough to never raise my rent in the 2 years I've been here.
I was very happy here for the first year- AFTER I got used to the train coming by 27 times a day. My neighbors were great (except the drug dealer next door) and I never had any problems that required me to deal with the office/ maintenance staff. Then the problems started happening- neighbors toilet exploded above me- gutters leaked into my apartment, hot water heater broke, apartment OVERRUN with all kinds of insects. Maintenance would not come out to fix anything. For a year I have lived with a ceiling in the living room and bathroom that is half-way hanging down and sagging. Water has soaked through so badly that the whole ceiling is about to come crashing down on me. And it is worse in the laundry room. The ceiling AND the wall is about to fall down from water damage. I called 100 times, but the office staff does not answer phone calls or return phone calls. Every neighbor in my building has this problem. My neighbor below me had his entire tile bathtub crash down on top of him because severe water damage caused the tiles to come loose from the drywall. He moved out after 6 months- I should have followed.
The complex is extremely unsafe. The gates have rarely worked since I've lived here. I have complained numerous times about how dark and unsafe it is in the complex. I counted about 20-something street lamps that are burned out and they refuse to replace the light bulbs. Also there is a break-in about twice a month here. At least the office staff is nice enough to send out a notice to let you know another one of your neighbors was robbed and that you could be next- better get a BIG dog. I wish they would be so diligent about making repairs.
Also, the fitness room has never been open in the 2 years I've lived here. It is always being "remodeled" due to vandalism. That should tell you something. How can they even say that is an amenity' I should get some of my rent back for paying for an amenity that does not exist.
With all that said- the rent is cheap. I pay $800 a month for a 1 BR with Den in Vinings, which is unheard of. I have a great deck with a lot of privacy and a cool view. But I cannot deal with living in the ghetto any longer. I will gladly pay $1200 to live in a POST apartment where they actually know what customer service is about.
