It's no Post Park... but it's not so bad

I lived here when it was Post Park and initially the change was very hard and difficult for me. As I watched the quality and class of the property rapidly go down, I was frustrated DAILY and complaining all the time. Once I lowered my expectations and stopped expecting PPN to have the same quality and standards that Post Park had, my situation became acceptable. I?m sure that I?d have a very different disposition if I were a new resident. Since a new resident couldn?t begin to know how or where things will fall short. Overall, it has gone from an A- down to a C-. Anyway, here?s my breakdown of why I still live here and the things I had to get over:

Reasons I renewed (and may renew again) and would recommend to a friend - Some of the good stuff about living here:
1. Contrary to all the horror stories I?ve heard about the leasing office staff, I?ve always found them to be very fair, responsive and reasonable when it comes to how they treated me as a resident. As the property?s quality decreased, they?ve been good about taking my rent down with it.
2. Fortunately, I haven?t had many issues WITHIN my apartment. I don?t have a bug problem - the appliances are in good working order and the carpet is in good condition.
3. Again, no bugs. At least, not a bug problem on the inside of my apartment. I do take advantage of the extermination service. When I start seeing a lot of bugs in the breezeway around my door, I?ll call the leasing office - and they?ve always been great about scheduling me to have my apartment and outside area sprayed.
4. Convenience. I work less than 5 minutes away.
5. The family with a toddler above me moved out. They were replaced with a single guy who must tip-toe through his apartment because I rarely hear anything from him.

Reasons I would not recommend to a friend AND the things I had to ?get over? and accept ? Some of the bad and ugly stuff:
1. Not having working exercise equipment. Most of the cardio equipment doesn?t work properly or doesn?t work at all. The equipment is NEVER maintained, repaired or replaced. I don?t use the hand weights, but I?ve noticed that there are fewer of them because someone keeps stealing them.
2. Unkempt swimming pools. The bottom of the pool is covered with leaves and other debris.
3. The tennis court is now a playground for unsupervised kids who must have used the tennis nets as a swing set. However, I believe the nets have been repaired. If so, another credit to PPN staff. Now if they would only do something about the other facilities we use?
4. The waste disposal system is horrible. What we have are unsightly trails of trash that lead up to dumpsters that pile up a mile high with garbage.
5. Living in a ?gated? community. The gates are ALWAYS OPEN. I?ve never bothered to replace the remote that I lost about a year ago, since it?s open access to all.
6. Cigarette butts in the breezeway and neighbors that sit bags of trash outside of their door. However, I must again give credit to PPN management for quickly responding to my complaints. They can?t make adults clean up behind themselves, but they at least acknowledged the problem and tried to take steps to eradicate it.
7. The outside building walls, doors and the breezeways could use some cleaning. More than just using the blowers to move debris.
