You don't want to live here....

This place is cheap, and it shows. The residents they have let in lately represent the idea that the management wants to just make money, and will take advantage of whom they need to to get it, and let in who they need to to get it too. There has been increasing violence and damages to the property as well as residents property--cars being broken into, cars being vandalized, and most recently gang activity--spray painting gang sings and symbols that were quickly painted over by management. With any of these events, it took several days, if not longer, for notices to be sent out to residents about such activities.
The grounds of the complex are nothing special at all. The workout facilities are almost always damaged or not working in some way, and the same goes for the pools, which are often left dirty. Many residents have dogs here (many of which are far larger than the "contract" allows as well), and almost no one pics up after their dog either. Expect to find signs of dogs having been walked nearby in both the parking lots and on the sidewalks, as we find that all the time. Garbage has been a real issue here lately. At times when the compacters break, residents feel free to stack days worth of garbage next to the facilities and the management does nothing about it to get rid of the eyesore (or smell) "because its a weekend".
The gates of the complex--don't expect them to work for long, or at all. Whether its lightning, a storm, or a resident driving through them, the gates are almost always broken, and there's always an excuse, and never anyone to fix them quickly (it literally takes WEEKS to get them fixed). And, the management considers them an "ammenity", so in other words, those gates are not there for your safety or that of your car or apartment, they're there to attract people to to the complex, they're not actually there to do anything at all.
And along the continued lines of safety, the management (and they two "safety officers" that live here--for 700 units) seem to be able to pick and choose what they respond to and when as well. Things like grills, which are not allowed here due to the wooden porch coverings, don't seem to be that big of a deal at times. Neither do lights in the parking lot (which can take weeks to get fixed when they go out), or potholes in the parking lot and the entrances to the complex.
The apartments are cheaply built, and cheaply maintained as well. It is VERY easy to hear the other residents around you through the walls/ceilings/floors.
Also, this is not one of those apartment complexes that will work with you at all if you want to buy a house. Considering most other complexes do that these days, you'd be better off to shop elsewhere. There's enough that goes into buying a house without needing to worry about how (and why) you'll pay several thousand dollars if you try to leave before your lease is up.
The management here don't really seem to care at all about the people that live here. They'll tell you one thing, and never end up following through. While you can sit there and tell them your concern, it simply doesn't concern them--in the end, you're the one thats going to pay the rent bill, not them.
Overall, living at Park Pointe North has been a very unsatisfactory experience. While everyone knows that you are pretty much "throwing away" money by renting, throw your money away elsewhere--at least you will have working "ammenities", less gang activity, and management that cares about the property and the residents.
