I've lived at Park Towers II for the the past 4 years. My lease is up in April and I wouldn't renew if they paid me. This community used to be one of the best but over the course of the past 2 years has become one of the most disgustingly "ghetto" communities I've ever lived in.
About the amenities...the computer lab hasn't worked in 3 years. Don't listen to the BS they'll tell you about how it's monitored and maintained. It's not. Not ever. Half the time the comoputers don't work because parts get stolen, the rest of the time the internet doesn't work at all.
Cable and internet and provided by Comcast. While Comcast provides excellent service, the wiring throught Park Towers is cheap and very poorly done making it impossible to get a clear picture even with a brand new cable box and digital service.
The illustrious concierge service is the worst I have ever experienced. They sign for open packages (which leasing is convienently not responsible for). I can't remember the last time they actually called my apartment to let me know that I have a visitor (usually they let anyone in and send them up without asking). They act like it's their job to police the residents of Park Towers rather than to provide a service. They are RUDE, PUSHY, CRASS, UNEDUCATED, and INCOMPETENT. If you don't believe me...ask leasing why they've changed the ENTIRE concierge staff 3 times in the last year (the most recent time being at the end of this month). The valet service is no better.
Construction: The walls are paper thin. I can literally hear my neighbor brushing his teeth through the wall in the morning. Forget about having conversations in a room adjacent to anoter apartment. You will be heard as loud and clear by your neighbors as you would if they were sitting in the room with you.
Parking: If you are a guest, good luck. Guest parking is one of the may features that is lacking at Park Towers. Don't forget to renew your parking pass daily or your car WILL get towed with no p[honecals and no questions (it costs $125 to get your car back). Management is notorious for towing cars that belong to residents and then telling you you are on your own for the fee. From the words of management themselves "The parking deck does not have enough spaces to accomodate 1 space for every resident of Park Towers"
The Club Room: Recently recarpeted. The pool table is broken, the cues are broken, and the table hasn't has a full set of balls in years (because they get stolen and management doesn't replace them). Don't worry though, the club room is usually so packed with screaming kids that you wouldn't wan't to shoot pool in there even if you could.
The Pool: Olympic size with a broken volleyball net strewn across the middle. There are maybe 12 chairs by the pool so be prepared to stand, sit on the floor or bring your own. The gas grill looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it was installed. The hot tub rarely ever works and when it does the water is so dirty that you wouldnt want to go in anyway. But you don't need to worry about any of that past 10PM when the curfue kicks in and they lock everyone out.
Crime: Big problem at Park Towers. Their security system is absolute garbage. It's NEVER monitored. My car was stolen from inside their "access controlled" parking deck while I was away on business. The cameras in the parking deck didn't show anything since they only keep 3 days worth of tape before recycling.
Speaking of crime, if you come to look at this community, ask the management about the prostitutes that live and work out of BOTH towers. You might as well ask about the DOUBLE HOMICIDE that occurred a few years ago and the crackheads that are always hanging out in the computer lab to use the fax phone too.
What else is there to love about Park Towers' Try getting something fixed. Maintenance has been to my apartment several times to fix both the washer and the garbage disposal...both are still broken. Doesn't matter though, I'm dropping Park Towers like a bad habit.
I especially love the grafitti carvings in the wood in ALL 3 elevators (look at the wood and you can see where they just stain over it). Very reminiscient of Penn Station, NYC.
I also enjoy regularly enjoy the smell of rotting garbage throught the building when the trash chute clogs and the garbage piles up 33 stories.
Maintenance service: INCREDIBLY INCOMPETENT. The lights in the hallway that light the way from the elevator to my apartment are ALL different wattages and types of bulbs. It looks so horrible, like they just grab whatever fits into the socket to replace the lights. Speaking of lights, half of the lights in the parking deck are out and have been that way for at least a year (where does the extra $75 from my last rent hike go''')
But hey, at least the curb gets painted every 2 weeks. Nice to see my $1300/month at work.
Get your act together Julian LeCraw. Are all of your properties operated like this' Park Towers has successfully provided me one of the worst living experiences of my entire life. I will never ever inhabit another Julian LeCraw community again.
If you are thinking about moving to Park Towers...DON'T. Talk to people that have lived there for more that a year for the real scoop.
