It's really not that bad! I have been there for 9 months and I have had few problems but they were all promptly corrected. I will agree that there is an extremely diverse crowd that lives here but I know all of my neighbors (in my building) and everyone is friendly and helpful.

I think that community environment that exists here is great. Where else can you find such a reasonably priced apartment with as much green space as this place has' There are always kids out playing and people walking, jogging, or biking around the pond. On weekends a bunch of guys get together and play sand volleyball, the pool is packed with kids, and the tennis courts are always full. Furthermore it is one of a few places in Atlanta where you can have large dogs in apartments, and it has a fenced in dog run to accommodate them (that honestly could be cleaned a little bit more but that is because of the lazy people that use it not the management!) I live alone and have a large dog that I take walking/to the dog park a lot and I always feel safe.

It's obvious from when you see the place that it is older, but there are certainly a lot of perks to living there that I think out weigh not having crown molding and granite countertops. Regarding bugs and other issues, I haven't had a problem, however I am OCD when it comes to cleaning and I have the management comes to spray every few weeks. But I think that those are generally issues of living in a city and not keeping your apartment clean (to an extent) rather than issues with the building.

Bottom line - Be nice to your neighbors and get to know them - you'll be happier and probably safer, and if you have a problem with them (i.e. they're loud) talk to them rather than calling management, it will be a lot more effective!
