The worst place to live under the sun

We recently moved to Atlanta and needed an affordable place to stay while we waited to sell our home. First, we were shown this clean apartment on the 3rd floor, and as the lease agent took us on the "guided" tour, she threw her arms around and described a garden front and lake front (which we had to imagine) we thought it was pretty decent for a short while so we signed a 6 month lease, paid whatever and moved in two months later.
The day of our move in was a shocker - at the entrance to the apartment was this creepy (not creeping)palnt under which you could make out cigarette stubs, BIG raoches, left over old mc donalds packs and empty cans...then the same agent took us to the 3rd floor where our apartment was.
I nearly had a miscarriage!!! The stench in the apartment was a mixture of gas leaking, mold, rust, dead and alive roaches, damp carpet.. and I, like every pregnant woman needed to use the bathroom - there was stale waste over the toilet seat. I began to cry. This was surely not the same place we were shown!!
My husband,a Doctor, scrubbed the apartment from head to toe and I still couldn't walk into the bathroom with the light on. We called maintenance to tell them gas was leaking, you should have seen the disdain with which the guy eyed the few boxes we moved (not knowing how much space we would get in an apartment)which werelabeled stuff like "office" etc.
And the aparment guy acted like he was god.So we ran back to our home from Mid Dec to mid Jan and then we had to come and start our jobs.
Then our Mexican neighbor chose to leave their turntable on after a wild party one saturday night; apparently they all went out after and the turntable began to skip, and skip and skip for 6 hours. They came back home at about 1:30am after we had called maintenance to come and break down their door...
This same neighbors fought at least 5 times a week (at night) and we often had to just go somewhere; the also had a new baby (who I think social services should have taken from them) who cried for at least 45 minutes at 12 midnight and at 4 am before he was fed or consoled and the couple then began to fight...
This same neighbors had a friend who came some nights and called them by throwing stones at their window which was under ours, needless to say, the stone usually hit our window. Perhaps the same friend, picked up the woman at 7am everyday and called her by keeping his finger on his horn....
Nothing would get rid of the roaches. My husband, who was in pain but never complained simply did not tell me he had once seen a hole in the trash bag (''MICE), but I was going out of my mind and my husband was afraid there might be a teratogen of some sort (which could endanger or babies' lives) in the apartment with all these strange rodents, neighbors and animals so we knew we had to leave 2 months into our lease. We knew it would cost us since we hadn't sold our home out of town, so we bought another house and started paying 2 morgages at the expense of getting ready for our children's arrival then paid the remaining 2 month's rent and ran for our lives.
Please stay away from Parks at Briarcliff for your sanity because the money you'll save from the rent will go to a psychiatrist.

All I can say is that I must be living in a different complex or they are just not keeping up the newly rented apartments. I have lived there for 15years with none of these problems.

First of all, how would you feel if your neighbors got the management to break down YOUR door for any reason? Bringing up their ethnicity just outs you as a racist, and honestly, even if your neighbors were insanely hard to live by....that's not a management problem. As long as THEY are paying the rent on time, most places could care less what they do. I refuse to believe that any place rented you an apartment with feces on the toilet seat, come ON! Your complaint sounds completely ignorant, and if your husband is a doctor and you can afford to pay two mortgages, why are you living in an apartment anyway?

um. thats pretty much a true statement. when i lived there, they showed me one apartment and when i moved in they put me in another. the lake side and hill side are TOTALLY different. kinda segregated. mostly foreigners live on the lake side. funny, right. but the professional and emory students of non-foreign tone live on the hill side where it is quiet and peaceful and none of the drama. hell they even look like a totatly different complex to be honest. and pointing out the race was not racist I knew excatly whom she was referring too which is why i moved.

well, my partner and I are both professional AND students who they moved into the same apartment we were given the tour in, on lakeside, with no drama. I stand by my 03/04 comment!
