I used to love it here...

I lived here for five and a half years and loved it until the past 6 months. I loved the location, the spacious floorplan, affordable rent, and the lake was really nice to walk around. I was very lucky to have nice, quiet neighbors in the 5 apartments immediately surrounding me.
About two months before I decided I needed to get out for my own safety I had to call 911 after I heard 9 gunshots at 1am on a Thursday night. A few days after that I was walking my dog and came across a shell casing by the lake.
I also got new neighbors below me who made staying here impossible. I would come home and my apartment would reek of drugs and cigarrettes. They blared their music constantly, had loud, late-night parties- even on weeknights, and once had a screaming physical fight in the stairwell. I complained to the leasing office and all they could do was issue a noise complaint which changed NOTHING. They encouraged me to call the police about the drugs, but I would have to identify myself to them and I didn't want to put myself in danger. It got so bad that I decided to break my lease. After over 5 years of living there, never being late on my rent, when I went to talk to someone in the leasing office about my concerns they were dismissive and just handed me the 30 day notice to break my lease. I spoke with 3 people in the leasing office to figure out what I would owe and got the same amount from all of them. When I showed up to turn my keys in they informed me that I would actually be charged $350 MORE than what I had been quoted and that they had put a notice on my door to that effect. They did NOT put anything on my door. I was extremely disappointed with the way they handled a serious concern from a loyal resident. Very poor customer service. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq

I have lived here 17 years. Although it is alarming to read about gunshots and shell casings, I guess I will stay hereuntil something closer to home happens to me. The staff has been fairly helpful, especially the assistant manager, Jorge B. (I have forgotten his last name).

Wow, this reads as if I wrote it, but I didn't. So it appears I'm not the only one with these issues. Which makes it clear that they are WELL aware of the problems.

It is known that this is not a high end complex, so there will always be residents that don't respect others. This is a legitimate reason to leave here.
That being said, the office staff is my main issue. They do not know how business should be conducted and approach every situation as if the renter is wasting their time. Having the ability to make peoples living situation better or worse is a big responsibility, and they could care less. If you approach them saying you are having problems, which could lead to you leaving the complex, they do not try to save your business. Has anyone taught them how business works? Even a McDonald's will give away something small to keep a client happy, creating repeat business. Someone buy them Business for Dummies.
PS - I'll buy you a drink if you can make one of them smile.

I also live in these apartments. I have had to call the police on domestic violence neighbors, and a gunshot before, and you do not put yourself in danger. Although they will ask for your name, you can tell them that you want to remain anonymous and do not want the officer to come to your apartment, and they won't.
