Nice, but not without it's issues

I've lived here for about 8 months now. The location is great-- walk to Phipps, Lenox, and all of the other nearby attractions, including a Publix right across the street. The apartments are new which means updated styling, very good stainless appliances, slate floors, solid surface counters, large bathrooms, solid wood cabinets, etc. (see the brochure for the rest). Overall, most of the staff is very friendly. Good tenants as well, a lot of professionals.

On the negative side, the newness of the apartments is evident, as there are many problems that have had to be fixed in my unit, including a leak within the drywall from a shower water line. This caused severe sheetrock damage throughout the bathroom into the closet. It took 3 or 4 days before anyone came out to look at it. Once they did, it took over 3 weeks for the problem to be fixed, along with numerous phone calls from our end. The moisture in the bathroom led to bugs, which still haven't gone away completely. Other minor problems like realigning the door on its hinges (the foundation was still settling), occasional leaks around the A/C are there. The water pressure is absolutely horrendous in the shower, no doubt due to the "efficient" shower head that is in place.

I will say that the maintenance person is absolutely wonderful and pleasant. However, he is the only one on staff and is stretched too thin to be able to handle all the problems with a new construction property by himself. With some help, I imagine the time we had to wait could be sorted out eventually.

There are a couple of very friendly people in the office, but there are also a few who have very big egos that are sometimes tough to deal with. I bought a storage unit and it took over three weeks for the leasing office to get me into one. Because the records they keep on leased storage units is not accurate, they made me scout out the complex to try and find a unit that did not have anything in it. I gave them numbers, then would have to wait days for a response as to whether I could have the unit. Then they'd respond and say that the unit was already taken for some reason unknown to me. I finally found one that they said I could use and it took a week for them to put the deadbolt on, which was subsequently rekeyed to the wrong lock. To make matters worse, this all happened right as I got married, so my new wife and I were stuck with a mess for quite some time. I still am pretty upset about that situation.

Rent is very expensive here, but for the location and age of the apartments, I guess it is justified. Parking is covered, which is nice, although there have been a few break-ins and stolen cars. Management takes this very seriously and sends notice to all residents when this happens.

The pool is nice, and lots of events are held (especially during the summer). There are tons of kids at the pools, so take that as good or bad depending on your particular family situation and tolerance. Air conditioning works great and power bills have been surprisingly very low. I must complain about the cable. Advanced Telemedia is your only option here unless your unit happens to have a view of the southern sky for satellite. For those familiar with ATM, you know exactly how bad they are, and for those not familiar, the service is terrible. My local channels constantly cut out, and there is no one to help you out on the phone if it's past 6 pm. In addition, they are more expensive than any other service out there. I don't understand why the apartment with ATM as an exclusive provider, and have voiced my complaints.

I'm buying a house, so I'm not renewing my lease. Would I move here again if I could do it again' I don't know if the price is worth it to me. Seriously consider some other alternatives (Estates at Phipps, Post Stratford, possibly even Post Peachtree or the nice Gables over on Northside if they have deals going on) before making a final decision over here.
