My overall impression of Post Biltmore is very positive. The apartments are nice, the location is great and the Post employees are very friendly and responsive.

However, if you decide to live here you need to be prepared to pay a significant premium if you want anything other than a basic cable package. Unless you install your own dish on your tiny balcony (this is discouraged), you must contract with Purdigital to install Directv. They have a monopoly. You cannot get an expanded package through Comcast. Since Purdigital has a monopoly on this service, they give the level of service you might expect from someone in this situation. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences of my life.

DirecTV advertises "free installation". My incremental out of pocket costs to install DirecTV through Purdigital were over $300. Additionally, they charge a $10 monthly "maintenance fee" over and above what DirecTV charges me.

And, if you decide to order a HDTV service package, be advised that you will not be getting all of the channels that DirecTV provides, as the building does not have the latest dish on the roof. They have an over the air antenna, which only provides a handful of local HDTV channels, but many channels are missing. So you are paying them $10 a month to "maintain" their inferior technology, which results in you missing out on many channels that you are paying for.

Oh, and over and above all of this, the installation guy was surly, and they added an extra $100 to my bill that I finally convinced them to reverse.

If you decide to live in Post Biltmore, my advice to you is to ditch your TV and buy books.

Very good to know. We upgraded to HD and you need to be able to get every possible HD channel available, because there are not that many of them. I'd be really unhappy with that situation. Thank you for posting.
