STAY AWAY

Years at this apartment: 2006-01-01 - 2008-01-01

I've lived in Post for two years now. My lease is just about up and I couldn't be more excited to get out of this dump. Management tries to cover up the real issues with well-manicured lawns, tulips and nice pools. Don't be fooled. As others have mentioned, the management staff had blatant disregard for the safety of its residents when the string of robberies occured. And that wasn't the first time. In the two years that I've been here, there have been countless robberies, car break ins, mailbox break ins... many more than at other apartment complexes. Management held meetings with residents to act like they cared but NOTHING was done until it really got out of hand with with last bunch of break ins.
Obviously, safety is a major concern, but there are other things to worry about. This neighborhood used to be vibrant and full of young professionals and students. It now seems that numerous lower income families with 3-4 kids each are living here. This is evident when you go to the gym and can't get on a machine because mothers are letting their 5 year olds on the freaking treadmills. Seriously. I have a family of 6 that lives above me. The walls and floors are thin and you can hear the parents yelling and the kids jumping around at all hours of the day and night.
Another serious issue is ANTS. They absolutely infest the 1100 building each year around spring time. It doesn't matter how clean you keep your apartment. They'll still find a way into your kitchen. I complained and complained and complained. Pest control came out and sprayed, but it never helped. It got so bad that I woke up one morning to ants crawling on my face. When I spoke with the manager at Post Briarcliff, he gave me a $10 gift card to Target and sent me on my way. Take your $10 and just get the ants off my freaking face!
Oh and don't even get me started about the parking issues. In certain buildings, if you get home after 9pm, you have to literally park a football field away. It's absolutely ridiculous. As a young single girl, the last thing you want to be doing is taking a serious hike to your apartment late at night. Many of the residents have complained to the management staff and they just say that there's nothing they can do.
With all these troubles, you would think that rent here is cheap. Umm it's not and rent goes up drastically each year you stay.
I have 20 friends that currently live in Post Briarcliff. Every single one of them is getting the heck out of here at the end of their lease. Post is just not what it used to be. There are so many other great places to live in Atlanta. Don't even bother with Post Briarcliff.

I've lived at Post longer, and the safety has not been an issue recently ever since they added guards (if you get out of Post, you'll see they have the same issues as Post was not the only one hit by the robberies but really the whole area--even Emory has had robberies). It's unfortunately endemic to a relatively 'rich' area. As far as the kids thing--not sure I agree that these are 'poor' as you say since Post is relatively pricey and you do need to meet a credit check and the like. The location, the facilities, and the recent improvements I think more than make up for the past spot of bother. That's just my opinion though.

we used to call it post Emory dorm because of the high number of rude self absorbed Emory brats that lived there. I moved into the complex when our unit was brand new and it sounds like nothing has changed. My roomate was a Physician and had been blocked in many times while on call by rude self absorbed Emory brats. Sounds like nothing has changed at all.
