Total lack of security - Dangerous, avoid like the plague

In the last month alone there have been 4 burglaries. One happened barely before 10 when two guys attacked a woman, punched her in the face, robbed her and were interrupted by neighbors as they were trying to get away in her car. If she had not started screaming like the world was ending they would have stolen her car as well. In the most recent incident, someone broke into a house in the middle of the day through the front door (the security plates on the door frame are a joke because the door frame is so weak) and made away with a bunch of stuff.

Parts of the apartment complex are so badly lit at night so even if there were 4 guards they wouldn't be able to secure the place properly. The fence is a joke, perpetrators have jumped over them into getaway cars with residents chasing them. The perps know that security is such a joke that they keep returning week after week.
Cars are stolen on a monthly basis and apartments it seems are broken into on a weekly basis. They put a singe part time guard in place after several incidents and after the recent spate, hired one more (also part time) but I haven't seen either guard for a week again. Complaints to the staff about security are met with apathy that shows on their face.

I think the least most of us expect from a home is that you can sleep at night without fear of harm. Not only does Post Lindbergh not meet that criteria, the management seems to have no intentions of taking any real steps towards improving the situation. Please avoid this apartment complex like the plague.

At the very least they should:

- Setup security cameras

- Put in stronger door frames and better security plates which cannot be broken by one person

- Put more lights around the property so half the property isn't pitch dark at night

- Hire one full time guard and two armed night time guards who continuously patrol the property. The current guards don't even have batons.

- Check the fences all around the property and raise them to where people can't jump over them.

In many other ways Post Lindbergh is great. There is adequate parking, the maintenance crews are great, the property clean and the location can't be beat. Noise is minimal. But security is awful. Please fix it.

My thoughts are that someone is letting these low-lifes in. To take anything significant they need a car. If you let someone in behind you at the gate and do not take some responsibility to stop them or at least follow them and get their tag information ( and call security with it) you are letting bad things happen to your neighbor and community. The gate can only do so much. I agree that lights and cameras getting tag numbers at the gate is needed to assist police in determining (1) who is letting the thugs in (2) who is creeping in. Also a camera along the fence line would be nice. But criminals are smart and disable them easily if they know they are there.

I have a similar impression, though I have to say I have never witnessed any crimes. I am thankful to live on the 3rd floor, though. Post Lindbergh sends out a letter every few weeks about a robbery, car break-in/jacking or burglary, which makes me feel somewhat unsafe. Another thing that kind of irks me about Post Lindbergh after having lived here for 4 months is that when you get a package, they all go to the same self-serve room that can be accessed by any resident. What's to stop someone from stealing your packages?
