Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
My roommate and I moved in January 2003 and have had a very positive experience. We got an amazing deal (3 months pro-rated free rent!) on a huge, top-floor two-bedroom. I've never had so much closet space in my life.
NOISE: There is a little bit of structural noise - water running through pipes, drawers and door shutting, etc - but I've never noticed much sound carrying through the apartments. The next-door-neighbors have two very yippy dogs, but I only hear them when I walk outside their apartment, never from within my own.
AMENITIES: The exercise room is a bit small, but the times I have used it the equipment always seems to be in working order. The two pools have lots of chairs and are nicely landscaped. I call one of them the "Melrose" pool because it gets LOTS of action on the weekends, so I mostly use the other, quieter pool. There has been some kind of construction going on by the tennis and volleyball courts and vegetable garden, but since I don't use these, it doesn't bother me. The car wash ports are great.
PARKING: There's always tons of parking outside my building.
MANAGEMENT: I haven't had to deal with them much since we moved in. The one time we had problems with clogged drains, someone came out immediately to fix it.
UTILITIES: We do have to pay for water through the complex, and I find it a bit sketchy. The bills make no sense and are often late. Other utilities are designated providers, but go directly to us.
OTHER: The people who live here seem, for the most part, young, attractive, and upwardly mobile. Cars in the parking lot are nice. People are relatively friendly, though I don't socialize much with my neighbors. The gate has always worked, and I have always felt safe here. The location is incredibly convenient - a short walk to MARTA, short drive to 400, Piedmont, and Peachtree - and the complex is tucked into the Peachtree Hills neighborhood and thus avoids some of the noise and sketchiness of nearby complexes like Post Lindbergh.
My only complaints' We were referred by someone who was promised a $500 referral fee (which she was going to split with us) but for some reason the leasing office refused to pay it! They gave her $100 instead and she kept it all, the bum! Also, my bedroom window faces directly into the windows of the building next door, so I keep my blinds shut most of the time.
As you can see, though, my complaints are few and compliments are many! I would definitely recommend this community to any young apartment dwellers looking for convenience and charm!
BTW, my roommate and I are both grew up in Atlanta, but have only recently moved back here after living in apartments in Chicago and Boston. We are so amazed at the bang you get for your buck here, that we tend to overlook things that seem to bother others that post on this site.
