Post Renaissance has a wonderful gated community of friendly tenants, great amenities, and quality buildings. I have little to complain about, but I wont be remaining here after my lease is up. Of the few problems I've had, my water heater seems to be the biggest ongoing one, and management is in the process of replacing it next week.

The only thing that will keep me from staying is the price for the size of apartments. At around 1000$ for my 1-bedroom, it's just not worth it.

There's a weird ebb and flow to the rate of rentals these days. Rental prices are up because of all the people who have lost their homes and now must rent. However, the purchase prices for homes have not dropped enough yet to make it prudent to buy. Take notice that many condo developments that have been under construction are now going rental or at least partial rental property, as they must because of the glut. So rental rates will soon become more reasonable. But if you renew your lease at this current inflated rate, you'll be stuck for the term of that new lease. As much as it sucks to move, you may want to at least try getting in somewhere else with a new tenant discount special to ride out these fluctuations. It's a mess that will take time to settle. Please know that you're not alone in this. It's the same all over. Long term tenants are not being rewarded anywhere.

I'm having a similar problem. I really love PR, but my roommate and I do not want to pay the rent increase. We did toy with the idea of moving to another 2 bedroom on the property, but then she bought a condo. Maybe you could do that though.
