UPDATE: So instead of having someone talk to me from the apartment complex and having me pay them, they send the bill over to a collector. Honestly, i found the collection agency easier to deal with than the apartment complex. The apartment complex never gave me a chance to pay the bill. All they did was send me a bill and expect immediate payment. When I went into the apartment complex (because they don't answer their phones) they had some - month rookie who didn't have a clue what was going on help me. He was the only one present. He was also not helpful at all. I told that rookie to have someone call me back and talk to me and instead the same rookie calls me back to talk to me and tells me that they have sent the bill to Sure Deposit. Well Sure Deposit instantly redirects it to the collector. This complex has horrible management, and who leaves a rookie all alone to take care of things he doesn't even know about' And yes apartment I saw your whole "call and we would be happy to talk to you." No thanks. Every time I have called it has been either the rookie or the answering machine and you don't return calls. Forget it. I have mentioned to friends before, while living at the complex, that it was a good place to live but after all this junk I have gone through I will never recommend you again I will warn people to stay clear of your apartment.

And, Just so you know, I reported you to BBB. After a week BBB emailed me saying that you didn't respond to them. The reason I reported you is because I believe it to be malpractice to not point out the things that I got billed for. It is not enough that you explain after the fact the reason something needed to be cleaned. For all I know you could be making stuff up. the malpractice is where I didn't literally see what you changed and cleaned in the apartment. For all I know the things we were charged for could have been bogus. It is along the same lines as taxation without representation. My current house renter said that he personally walks around the house with the owners to point out things that will need to be fixed or cleaned.

The apartment seems nice from the beginning. We soon found out that it wasn't that good. First and foremost the carpet in the place was horrible. It was like industrial type carpet. The Appliances were nice and in proper shape for the most part. After a year of living there our alarm system started to malfunction and it started to beep every 10 minutes. This was not some small low beep but a really deep beep that penetrated the walls and kept me up at night for months. Why Months' Well I talk to the main person at the front desk and he said he would send someone out to fix it. A week later and no one showed up so i talked to him again about it and he said the same thing. Finally someone came out and he said he would need to order a new battery. Well two weeks later and he had not been back so i went to the main guy again and found the maintence guy to ask about the battery and he said he had forgot and that he would remove a battery from another apartment and install it in ours. It has been about a month at this point of living with an alarm that beeps literally every 10 minutes. Well the battery got replaced and it worked...for the time being. THe alarm started to beep again. I was frustrated and did the typical rounds only to find that it was a bad wire. They had to call someone to come out and fix it. I have not had a decent nights sleep in forever. I am not blowing this out of proportion. It was a horrible experience and the apartment complex could care less.

The second horrible thing was that we got billed for cleaning at the end of our lease which isn't a bad thing but what is bad is the fact that they totally pulled all these tricks on me. FIrst and foremost the maintenance guy came out to look around the apartment to see what needed to be fixed and replaced. We asked him about the things that we needed to do to make sure that the moving out process was fine. We asked if we needed to clean the carpet and he said that they would most likely replace the carpet. We asked about the appliances like the oven and fridge and how well we needed to clean them because we knew that they were replacing appliances in all the apartments (it was obvious and the main man verified it a while back). THe maintenance guy also verified it and said that they would replace the appliances. So we basically just wiped the pieces clean. We didn't do any heavy cleaning, just made sure that it was wiped. We tried to turn in our key on a saturday but the office was closed. We looked for a drop hole to put the keys in and couldn't find one. There is one, as we soon found out, but it is hidden by bushes on the side of the building.

So we got a bill a few months later for all this cleaning that they said needed to be done. I tried calling them to ask about it that same day (tuesday) and got no answer so i left a message to have them call me back. I tried calling again another day and got no answer so i left a message. I was calling during typical business hours. So my last message said that I wasn't going to pay the bill because there was no instructions on how to pay it nor was there a detailed description of what I was being charged for. And I told them in the message that they wouldn't get any money until I heard from them. Well sure enough 7 months after we move out, they give me a call wondering why I hadn't paid. I explained the story.

The worst part is, when i told the main guy (----) that I was told things like the carpet and the appliances would be replaced and that we wouldn't have to clean them. But, we still got charged for the apartment complex to clean the stuff. He said "well I am sorry he shouldn't have said that and that is not for him to do, I will talk to him." Basically he is saying that a sorry removes all responsibility from him and that I still had to pay.

To add to all of that, our car got broken into near the beginning of our term (along with 5 other cars in the same way at the same time). Their response was worthless. They took no responsibility and did nothing to prevent future break ins. The apartment complex is horrible and I will never recommend anyone live there. The management is irresponsible.

Manager's Response

From: Manager Date: 06/19/2009
Dear Anonymnous, It is unfortunate that you feel you had a negative experience at our community. If you would like to contact me at the leasing office, I will be happy to discuss your concerns with you personally. Please be advised that the carpeting in the apartment is an upgraded berber style carpeting not an industrial carpet. The lease agreement states that at move out the apartment must be left in a clean and rentable condition. Therefore, the appliances and any other areas in the apartment should be cleaned. The maintenance staff is available to residents to take care of service requests in the apartments, any questions regarding fees or charges should be directed to the management staff. As stated above, if you would like to contact the leasing office, I will be happy to discuss your concerns. Sincerely, Providence of Northlake Management

The managers response is such a lie. All they will just send you in circles. I had the same experiences as you, so I know exactly how you feel. I was told that I would be sent a (SODA) bill to my new address. Never got it, but however a year later, I got a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed $46-. My truck was altogether stolen and there response was, "our security cameras are dummies and don't work and we will have them up in a month." Wish I would have known to sue. I had the same exact problem with my alarm also. I would definitely not tell anyone to move there.
