DOOR KICKED IN!

I came home from work yesterday to find that my door had been kicked in. There is only about a half inch of wood holding that lock in and it doesn't do a damn thing.
They took my laptop, digital camera and dug through our change cup for quarters and marta tokens. DO NOT MOVE HERE.
The girl above me had her place broken into too yesterday. They took her laptop. The people that lived there before her moved out only a few weeks ago because it was broken into.
WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY OF THIS!!
The police said there have been at least 10 break ins in the past few weeks. We heard about none of it.
They're letting us out of the lease (been here only 6 months) and giving us the deposit back but it doesnt take away the fear that I now have and the feeling of not being safe in my own home. We're leaving ASAP.

They told us that they hadn't heard about any other break ins when we went to the leasing office. They flat out lied to our faces! I need to add to this review that the security officer that the leasing office speaks so highly of NEVER showed up after the break in and never returned my calls. Its good to know that he's doing his job! The detective working on my case said they arrested someone that they think is responsible for our break in. He had been arrested before for breaking into our building! The detective also said that the security footage from the cameras in the building is too dark and fuzzy and absolutely no use. Its been 3 weeks since the break in and two weeks since I have moved. I have yet to recieve my deposit back. I'll update when I do. Let me just say that since I moved, I have been so much happier! My opinion of Atlanta has gone up too because now I don't live in a place where I'm afraid and constantly harassed by homeless people. |

So is the detective's name Mr. Boone? I think you might have been living in my apartment... We moved out because a guy named "Bruno" broke in and stole my roommates electronics and lots of my clothes and other random items. The complex told us that they only knew of a couple other robberies, but the detective said he knew of one that happened right above us, and that Bruno's been hitting this area for a while. He only goes to Savannah Midtown and one right across the street. The complex did let us out of our lease too, but if they hadn't we would have moved anyway!! Much happier now, I agree. |

Dont move there. You'll regret it. Honestly, all the apartment communities in midtown are cheaply constructed and poorly managed. I moved to the Virginia Highlands area in a house divided into apartments. Its built better and in a safer neighborhood. If you do stick with an apartment building, stay away from the piedmont/north ave/ponce area as there are tons of homeless people.

I just looked at an apartment at Savannah, but am afraid to move there since reading all these posts. Those of you who've moved and are happier - where did you move to?? I'm having a hard time finding a good place to move to in Midtown. I really need to stay in Midtown. |

You should be VERY afraid, until the management starts taking these issues seriously, it isn't safe. Not to mention there was ANOTHER false alarm fire Alarm last night from 2:50 AM to 3:32 AM. I'm exhausted this morning.
