I used to not believe in comments left on these sites, thinking only people that have bad things happen to them use this, and never for good things... BUT THIS IS WORTH KNOWING!!!

First I will say the place is new inside, built in 2002 i think, and the location is terrific... but it is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that I've been here for 4 months and personally:

Last night SOMEONE SCALED THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING to the FOURTH FLOOR, risking his/her life to steal a bicycle. Who does that??!? I had only had the bicycle for about 48 hours, not long enough for me to even get out to buy a bike lock-- and who would have thought i needed one on my own balcony (with the bike out of site, in the corner) anyways? I am pissed about the bike, but even more frustrated in the fact that this happened between a 5 hour time span while I was AT HOME-- and this person had to pass through many of my neighbors balconies twice to get to/from mine. DON'T THINK YOU ARE SAFE ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! Take this seriously. I really fear for my life knowing that anyone can break into my apartment from my BALCONY on the FOURTH FLOOR.

It also doesn't help that the metal door handle of my car was DRILLED into and CD player stolen along with 7 other vehicles' and no one noticed... or cared.

And so what you conveniently live next door to a grocery store... its not like you can walk to it alone! Living in these apartments definitely interferes with my daily live and quality of life. It was already above my budget to move in here because I wanted to live in a newer complex, but the physical value of things stolen from me could have allowed me to pay an extra $80 a month for rent ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!

If you feel unsafe, you can always break your lease. Equity does not have an early termination policy so, you can either pay until they get someone to move into your unit or you can pay a settlement fee. The settlement fee shouldn't be more then 2 months of rent (I think). If someone moves in immediately they can not double dip and get rent from two parties. The only catch is that the settlement may be for two months and they may be able to rent it out in one, so it is a gamble. Your safety is most important so I would do whatever I felt best about. Check with the leasing office first.

How do you know your next door neighbor didn't just reach across the railing and steal it? How could someone physically climb up four stories? What did they do with the bike once they got it? This makes no sense.

I had an expensive bike stolen from my 3rd floor unit in January, a neighbor saw it happen and called the police, I was not home when this happened, so yes, they can climb up 3 or 4 flights, the policeman called him spiderman. probably some guy who specializes in climbing up balconies and and stealing bikes.

All that said, I am comfortable living here and glad I made the choice to move into the Savannah midtown.

Regardless of who stole it...the next door neighbor or someone climbing four stories...IT'S NOT SAFE OK!!!!...If they can climb up to steal a bike...they can also break into the balcony doors which is terrifying. So stop trying to make the victim look like a liar...how heartless!!!!!
