Not wanting to tempt fate...
I've Lived in SM for over a year and plan on staying. I've have absolutely no trouble living here and love my apartment. Things are fixed as soon as I ask and the office staff have been absolutely lovely to me.
Yes rent is high. I'll give you that...and I wasn't happy with how long the back gates were broken with no visible security after the first couple of days. Come on guys - we are paying for it.
I also find it stupid that card entry is only on one side of the building.
But it's been useful when I leave my card at work!
I've NEVER seen bums inside the complex.
I don't drive, so I have no problems with cars...but I can believe all the stories I've read.
And I'm REALLY pissed that I missed the guy driving off the building - I wondered why the dumpster door was broken!
The neighbours are friendly.
The grounds are always well kept.
I have no issues at all.
Actually that's a lie...for the rent we're paying...why can't we have carpets in the corridors outside our front doors and pictures on the walls...
That would be nice.

I completely agree with this post. Have lived in SM over a year now. I'm transferring properties because I'd like to save $ and not spend so much on rent. If this weren't the case, I'd be here until I was ready to purchase a home - I've loved it.
