This is a great place to live

I have lived here for over a year and in that time I have not experienced any problems whatsoever. Other tenants want to blame this complex for security issues. When the gates at the parking garage were broken it was because of the tenants. I understand it is the responsibility of SM to make sure they work but we are to blame just as much. If we weren't idiots then the gates wouldn't be broken. Hell, if I owned this property I wouldn't fix it. If we are stupid enough to drive into poles and doors then it's our own fault. I agree parking spots are narrow but it isn't any different from any other parking garages in Atlanta. I have never seen any bums inside of the complex. As far as cars being vandalized, I have two parked here and neither one has ever been touched. Just don't leave anything in them. The maintenance staff has been absolutely great. Something happened with my heat last weekend and the on-call maintenance guy came over at 7pm that night. He could not fix it but came back the next day and worked for three hours. He still couldn't fix it so he went and got me a space heater and had it fixed on Monday. I feel that he did the most he could each time. There is noise from sirens and random traffic but understand where we live.
I have a family member who works for the fire dept that covers this complex. He has been here for small incidentals but have never been here for any major emergencies. We live in large metropolitan city that has a high crime rate. It doesn't matter if you live here, Buckhead, or the Highlands, you will have some problems. I love the city and everything it has to offer. Living in the city isn't for everyone. It takes a special person to be able to put up with all of it's idiosyncrasies.
I read the entry of the bike that was stolen from a 4th floor balcony. I didn't go to GA Tech and I'm not a rocket scientist but do you really believe a person scaled up the building for a bike. Come on! Even if someone did scale the building, it's their fault for leaving it outside. I realize people will read this and probably respond telling me how stupid and wrong I am but we need to quit blaming others for our own mistakes.
Have a good night everyone

1) it doesn't take 4 weeks to fix a parking gate or a door latch that is broken genius. :) maybe 3 days?? but wait you lived here for year... I guess it's not's management's fault to not screen people for DUI's and police records b4 they lease to people?
2) One time some punk set off the fire alarms at 12 am. the fire department didnt have access to the controls to shut it off so they left and the fire alarm didnt go off until 0530am or whenever someone decided from savannah ghetto town management to show up.... So i guess that wasn't management's fault either????
3) there are hundreds of cars in the garage just because your 2 has not gotten broken into ( or banged into by the residents ) does not mean you have some superior alien race knowledge of not leaving anything in your car... (note to the naive person .... There are people who steal cars randomly they dont care about what is in the car...) One of my friends held someone at gun point after they selected his car to steal just based on the county tag...
Go talk to the police before you make your ingenius little assumptions about crime.... Just wait until christmas / new years it will be like a buffet for car thieves...
I guess you're not a rocket scientist .... The management does not care about any of this stuff. I have contacted them multiple times and they do not care ( they usually switch property managers every 6 months)... It's cool though they're plenty of other places to rent... Don't worry after your year is up they'll quote you about a 20% rent increase because they magically put handicaap ramps in I guess????
Only at savannah ghetto town , will people drive off the 6th floor parking deck, hit the dumpster roll over right side up ... have the passenger side have a fence post go through the seat. The driver was drunk and magically survives ..... wow.......
haha.... Have a good night everyone

1) If I managed this place I wouldn't be in any rush to fix the gates because it's our faults it happens. It's not just occasionally. If it was, I would agree. What does screening people for DUI's have to do with this? The next thing you will say is that management needs to screen people for speeding tickets to make sure they won't speed in the parking deck. Come on! You're being petty.
2)I don't buy the whole fire department didn't have access bit. My brother works there and said they have complete access to everything. However I have not been involved in any of this so I don't know.
3)You make it sound as if this is the only property that has cars stolen. It's Atlanta, what do you expect? Regardless of whether or not the gate works people can get into this place and break into your car. I have been here for Christmas and New Years and didn't experience any problems.
As the property manager, how would you fix these problems? How would you stop someone from driving off the parking deck? How would you make sure people didn't have their cars broken into? Do you think management knew the fire alarm went off all night? They probably did not know until the next morning. That responsibility falls to the maintenance person on call. If he did not respond then that's his fault and management needs to deal with it on their terms.
If you are that angry about everything just move. Shut up and move.
I'm not trying to be ugly about it but you are being childish to come on here and say what you you say. I don't know what you do for a living plus I don't care but you obviously don't understand what goes into running a business. You have to understand not everone will be happy. In that case you go somewhere else.
Make sure you lock you car doors!!

It's not your fault however how can you blame management here? Do you think they want that to happen? Do you think they want to have negative publicity? If someone wants into your apartment bad enough, they will get in. It has nothing to do with "shoddy construction". That's why we have renters insurance. If the complex was as bad as everyone has described here it would be shutdown. We live in Atlanta and apartments will be broken into and cars will be stolen. It's life and not just SM.
People want to hang so much on the management and you can to a point. I think that people are victim of circumstances. It's not the norm. I think we all know that, but we're pissed in some way at SM that it makes you feel better to say what you say. Just like my parents used to tell me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all".

Hear, hear. I am sick and tired of people being whiny little snots about SM. I've been here since April and have never once experienced any of the problems people say happen all the time. For the price and the location, this place is amazing. If someone can't stand living in SM, they simply aren't made to live anywhere in an urban area, so just GTFO and move to the suburbs with the rest of the old people with children, losers.

So my door and several other people in the building who's doors have been kicked in and property stolen, that's our fault? We're being whiney? I did move out but that doesn't stop me from wanting other people to be aware of the shoddy construction and risk to their safety.

Dear shutupandmoveguy,
Shut up and move ? Wow that is a great analytical response.
1.Usually when people run into stationary objects enough to knock them over they are drunk. :) And DUI's can be felony convictions... A little bit different than a speeding ticket ? See that???s where background checks come into play when leasing to people...
2.Yeah the Fire Depot has access to everything it's called an Axe! haha...No i talked to the Fire Department that night as they were leaving as the fire alarms were still going off! (imagine that ! ) .... I guess you don't buy that because your brother works there right??? Yeah, sorry I know lots of firemen and police. They might have access now after management got embarrassed by the incident. Don't worry corporate never returned my phone call about the little fire alarm incident.. :) that is great leadership right??? What do you do for a living? Do you tell your customers to Shut Up and Move if you worked at the leasing office? lol...
Yeah I really said this is the only place in Atlanta and crime only happens here genius! I'm sure when 4 people in a month had their apartment doors kicked in, locking the deadbolt would have prevented that haha.... oh wait that is why they kicked them in. ???Gee golly guys lock your car doors ! Me and my passive aggressive self will vehemently defend my original review. ???
Lets see here : If I was the property manager... I wouldn't take 6 weeks to fix a broken gate door?
If someone gets their door kicked in and murdered is the property manager negligent for not fixing a gate in a reasonable amount of time? Hmmm.... Is being frugal and waiting to contract out a work order worth a risk such as that?
Furthermore, they have a nice ghetto security (CCTV) system in which the image quality is about as good as my cell phone camera. The Police do not have access to the video tape. Even if a crime occurs!
Solution: You could easily upgrade the cameras too I.P. cameras and have the video streaming on the internet in real time. Then you could log in while at work or away from home to check your floor or car anytime right???
I really don???t care about my own misfortunes. I just don???t respect the management because they are not empathetic towards any of the resident's concerns and/or just stupid. So really, I could do a way better job. Not sure if they could match my salary though. Yes it is business! What a coy way to characterize this place that we live in? and pay money to the owner for the privilege? Genius!
Can???t wait for your next inane analysis!!!!

Wow, I just signed a lease here, and while I'm not worried about the property or my safety (because I believe the reviews that have proper spelling and grammar), I am worried that one of these childish whiners will be my neighbor.
