I lived at Sloan Square for 2 years and it was a good experience. There is no security gate, but it was pretty safe - I used to walk my dog really late at night. I think security gates aren't very secure anyway. People in my building were young to mid-30s professionals and graduate students. There were also families as well. I lived on the top floor apartment with vaulted ceilings which were really nice. The neighbors seemed friendly enough and while I was there, there was a security guard patrolling the property. The only negative was that maintenance was really slow to non-existent.
