I moved in here because it seemed like Spalding Gables had everything. It's virtually 15 minutes from everything in Atlanta. I-285, 400, Perimeter Mall, Buckhead.. everything! But it's still located in residential area that you're protected from noise and chaos of commercial area nearby. And compared to other apartments near the mall, the rent was so much lower! And compared to the dumpy apartments on Roswell Rd, this place was so much cleaner and nicer.
But...as I soon found out, there's a reason for cheaper rent. It's so obvious that when they built this apartment complex, they used cheapest materials possible to cut the cost. The amenities that come with most apartments are absent here or you'll have to pay extra to get them. Maintenance people are very nice and prompt but when something serious happens, their first option is to cover it up and try to get around the problem instead of fixing the problem. It gets frustrating after a while because everywhere you look, you can tell they tried everything in their power to use cheap stuff and it shows!
The complex itself is quite small. It's like they didn't know what to do with the land so they built an apt complex. And the gate system sucks! They didn't even have enough space to put a visitor only lane! So everybody just waits around when somebody can't get through.
Another problem is that there're lots of "irresponsible" and "inconsiderate" neighbors around. Maybe it's the cheap building materials they used but you can basically hear everything your neighbors do, especially, ones upstairs. And if you get bums for neighbor like me, they'll start thumping around starting at 10 pm like they have no job to go to the next morning. Lots of punks playing loud rap musics in their car at night...that really sucks. But what can you do'
But hey, for what I'm paying right now, it's a steal. I'm not sure what the rent is now but when I moved in last summer, it was just incredibly low. I would recommend this place but with a caution. Just know that you're getting what you pay for.
Pros:
In the middle of nice Dunwoody/Sandy Spring area. Lower rent compared to other "fancy" apartments around here. Clean and nice inside. Staff is very helpful and nice.
Cons:
That "This place is pretty nice but I know there's something missing" feel. You can see every decision they make and made is based on "how cheap can we do this'". It seems like everybody here owns oversized dogs and there're dog wastes everywhere.

If they played loud Pop or Country music would that be better? No,so don't implicate the genre of music.
