I lived at Sterling from 2004-2006 and would like to offer some comments.
First the pros:
- The location might be the best in all of Atlanta. All the Midtown nightlife is 2-3 blocks away. Plenty of great restaurants nearby too (Tamarind, Shout, Veni Vidi Vici, Front Page News, etc). Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts are also within walking distance. There is a health club next door in Colony Square, as well as some stores and a huge food court. Piedmont Park is 50 yards away. Marta is a 7 min walk. Also, the area has a very safe feel to it. This part of Midtown has the atmosphere of Boston's Back Bay or Chicago's Lincoln Park.
- I like the plethora of guest parking. This is perfect for weekends when your friends can come over and you can walk to the clubs.
- The units are very nice and spacey. My guests are especially impressed with the huge bathroom and glass shower. I've had some problems with water leaks but nothing major.
- The building offers some nice entertainment options. There is a community DirecTV dish, as well as broadband internet. I like the business office, which offers free printing, copying, and faxing.
- I find the office and maintenance staff to be friendly. I enjoy the free brunches and dinners they organize.
- Maybe I'm just lucky, but the building seems very quiet to me. I've never had any issues with loud neighbors.
- I got 100% of my security deposit back when I moved out, even though my apt was far from perfect.
However, I do have some cons:
- The door to my apt is at a weird angle. It made it very difficult to move furniture into the unit.
- There is no laundry facility on the property.
- The elevators are like saunas when it's warm out. I also find them to be small and slow.
- The layout to get access to the units is complicated. Food delivery people are always getting lost.
- Rent increases are big and generally not negotiable (this is what caused me to not renew for my third year).
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed living at Sterling. If you plan on taking advantage of the location, you should definitely check this place out. However, if location does not matter to you, you can find cheaper buildings elsewhere in Atlanta. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

In respose to ruru1839, I seriously doubt that management would complain about how hard it was to move furniture in, delivery guys getting lost, how hot & small the elevators are or about how they jack up the rent after a year!! Some people are actually really happy with the places they've chosen to live!! And the "problems" in this building are not outweighed by the great location! And this is the quietest building you can find in Atlanta!! This is a great place to live!

When I first moved to Atlanta, I went to look at some apartments in the Sterling. It's a beautiful place. The rent reflects the area, expensive. I got lost just trying to find the apartment they told me I could look at. The rent was a bit steep for me so I moved elsewhere but if you have the money to stay there, it is a very nice place to live. Also, I went there several times and it was very, very quiet.

Resident from 7/06-3/07. There are washer/dryer hook-ups in the apartments. The elevators are slow and barely if at all air-conditioned. The hallways are not air-conditioned either. The building is kind of an open-air design. The four sections to the building are connected by open-air hallways. They pull down flaps in the winter but in the summer you swelter. I still have fond memories of this place with one exception. The noise which is due to a lack maturity of some of the residents most of whom live in aparments with multiple roommates and are young. 3:00 am on a Saturday or Sunday morning was usually our wake-up time due to noisy revelers returning from an evening out. Still miss my beautiful big balcony and double french doors. Don't miss the noise.
