And Management's Thoughts: Who cares'

Sterling at the Park is in a great location. It is close to many offices, Piedmont Park, and loads of local restaurants. Unfortunately, that's about all it has going for it. We moved here from outside the city for the location (close to work and fun things). We had to settle for one less bedroom at the prices they charge, but we figured it would be worth it for the convenience. Again, that is the greatest thing about this place. And also, that is where the good things end. The first problem is that cars are constantly broken into. While our car has remained unharmed, the office has reported 4 cars broken into in the last 6 months. Most of this could be avoided but management and the other residents don't put security high on the priority list. Doors that are supposed to be locked seldom even close properly, people can get into the building in over 10 different locations, and only 2 are secure. The second problem is that the building was not built well at all. Every hard rain brings new leaks into the building, and mold is rampant. Also, the sewer system was not built with correct stoppers, so that often times, sewer gas comes up through the kitchen sink. Management DID try to find the source of this problem, but 11 months later, there's still no solution, and the kitchen still smells like sweage. And thirdly, the management company cares more about monthly income than the happiness of it's residents, and more often than not, complaints go unanswered. 90% of the time you can never hear your neighbors, as the walls are very thick. But, the windows are single paned, and you can hear everything that goes on outside. Our upstairs neighbor talks constantly on her cell phone, and SEVEN requests to management went without a single effective change. They told us to call the courtesy officer, which we did no less than NINE times, but to no avail. This rude person kept on being rude. The office elected not only to not sanction her, but then to renew her lease for another 12 months. Now, do you think that someone with SIXTEEN separate, documented, complaints against her is someone that management shoud decide would make a continuing resident' We didn't either, so we're moving out. Also, when out lease came up after a year, their second year rate increased from $975 to $1,150. That's an 18% increase! I could have dealt with 5% or 10%, but that was the last straw. This apartment is perfect for people who travel a lot, and only want the conveneince of living close in the city. But if you are spending a lot of time at home, my advice would be to try somewhere else. g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd

You couldn't have said it better. We've been having the same problems.

Wow. I really wanted to look at those apartments??? I thought there was secure parking... is it really that bad? Also, is it really that noisy, or is your neighbor just loud?

Yep, that's typical of most rental properties these days. Especially unprofessional staff. Their main goal is to fill vacancies and collect rent. Damn current tenents, except the the ones that unruly neighbors. For some reason the staff like them.

touche.....I live on the 5th floor and while I don't hear neighbors I do hear my neighbor below me who chose to talk....VERY LOUDLY AT 3 AM on their balcony...or the neighbor who leaves her cute little white dog on her balcony at 6 am and who barks constantly... well, I gues that's communal living.

I just received my renewal notice...$50 bucks a month...for what? That's $600 a year and I could buy a place here in this pitiful "big city" and pay less.....who do they really think they are. Too bad, it could be nice if Sterling were reasonable, but for this kind of rent I'll go back to San Francsico where the rents, while high...certainly are offset by the beauty of the place.

This is the biggest bunch of whiny babies I have ever heard. It sounds to me like all of you need to buy a house. You're paying high rent because you're on a prime piece of real estate. Your centrally located to everything that is important to what I am sure are chucks like you. If your neighbor is bothering you on her cell phone - say something to her. Management is not there at 3am- do you get out of bed at 3am to handle issues at your job. I doubt it. If the courtesy officer doesn't respond, call the police. That is what they were established for - TO KEEP THE PEACE. Now I'm truly sorry your car might be a target for a break in, but that is going to happen at any apartment complex. You could however buy a house and park it in the garage - now there is a novel idea. But instead you would rather get on the computer and ----- about how bad you have it. Also, as far as rent increases, it's a matter of supply and demand. If your apartment is worth more at your time of renewal you bet your ass they're going to ask for more. If you don't like it move - someone else will pay the increased rent and shut the hell up. My gut feeling tells me that half of ya'll have just moved out of mommy and daddy's house and expect the management office to wipe your ass for you, too.
