I moved to Gables Druid Hills a month ago.
Management is very friendly and helpful.
Parking is OK. I love how the courtesy office monitors the property night and day.
The apartments are beautiful inside and outside. Overall very happy

How come no one mention the ARMED ROBBERY that happened in the leasing office month ago 11-30-06?

I believe that the armed robbery was sometime at the beginning of December (I think that it was 12/4/06). There is a laundry list of excuses as to why they did not inform residents. I really have no comment on the matter beyond the fact that it is public record and you have the right to access the police reports regarding this incident and that it was IRRESPONSIBLE of the management company not to inform residents of serious criminal activity on the property.

They did inform everyone that there was an incident 2 weeks ago (a murder that happened because the murderer followed someone in then robbed him at gun point), but they did not say what had happened only that there had been an incident and then listing things they were doing to tighten security. I don't know if that's the right way to do it or not. It seems like that if you say that there was an incident people might just start spreading rumors and the thing gets blown out of proportion, but then again if you say what happened, like in the murder case, it could be a little disrespectful to the family of the deceased. I think a generalized statement, something like that there was a murder that involved tailgating at such and such time and date and place would be a good compromise.

I frequently have reported to management, the answering service, and Dekalb Co. police that there are drug deals going on at the clubhouse, in the "cybercafe" and restrooms and at the gate. I no longer feel safe walking to the workout room or using the laundromat because of the nonstop crime after dark. One night one of my cars was hit by a car that tailgated me in the gate and then fled. The onsite cameras turned out to be fakes with no recording of the accident. I waited 2 hours for the police to come, and the onsite security officer never showed up. Nothing was done by anyone in management. The police took a report but said there was nothing more they could do because it all happened on private property. The onsite security officer is a joke. Has anyone seen the officer? My roommate's car was broken into and damaged while it was parked on the property. The police said we need more lights in the parking lot, but managment ignored that too. No new lights. No visible security officer. No working security gate. People tailgate me in all the time. I don't want to be rearended again, so I just let them. Neither incident was reported to residents, although other armed robberies and breakins have occasionally been reported. I often see pimps and prostitutes on the property.
