Review from a current tenant whose lease is up

After reading some of these reviews and replies, I thought I would add some information. First, it sounds like a lot of the replies to bad reviews are from management so I wouldn't trust those (but I could be wrong). After living here for a year it really has not been that bad. Previously I lived across 85 at another complex and don't really see much of a difference. Here is what I have to say though. When I first moved in, maintenance did not fix the problems from the previous tenant. They came by and left a notice that they would be back but never came! I would have followed up but didn't really care and just held on to the note if ever asked why some paint was missing. Otherwise they have been to our apartment to change bulbs and such promptly. I see them on their golf carts too often picking up trash. I live in the back so parking isn't a problem but I hear it can be for the other buildings. The gate is RARELY broken, if anything the arm-thingy is broken off and that is from people following other people in when they shouldn't. The outside/interiors of the apartments are pretty nice but I have seen places with bigger closets, etc. I find the walls to be thin and definitely hear the people above us. We even had to call and complain once! I think this though seems to be the same at lots of apartment complexes. We luckily have not seen any crime but have heard of a couple of car break ins for gadgets and such. There is a police car on site usually but I have never seen anyone in it. Recently a new management company has bought out Gables. I have met them and they seem like they want to change the community for the better. I would really like to see more amenities, such as better recycling program (maintenance has been caught dumping it into the regular trash), valet trash, more incentives. Our lease is up and I was hoping to renew but they are not giving as good of deals as other places...especially for what you get. All in all, I find this place not too shabby and semi-expensive for what you get. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7

I post a lot of the responses on here and I do not work for Gables or the new management company. Just simply a resident that wants to give the other side of the story and make a point that sometimes it is the tenant, not management, who is the problem. I have enjoyed my time here (3 years) but slightly worried about the rates when I go to renew (especially since there is a new management company). There is now a Dekalb County officer who lives here (he lives in the first building somewhere) and I have seen him so I know he exists!! It also seems that an APD officer has moved in as well - towards the back somewhere - I have seen him coming in when I'm out walking my dog. Anyways, this is a good place, but getting kind of spendy. :)
