Worst Experience of My Life

For the last 6 months, I have been living in one of the worst apartment complexes around town - AMLI AT CLAIRMONT!!! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS AWFUL PLACE!!!
Yes, the leasing agents seem friendly and inviting, but don't be fooled. If you know ANYTHING about looking for an apartment then you know that leasing agents are the biggest liars known to man-kind. Unfortunately, I was sucked in by all the lies. When I first was escorted around the complex I was told that it was a friendly, quiet, and SAFE neighborhood. In fact, the leasing agent (who lives in the complex, which is a total bummer, old, grumpy lady) told me that she had NEVER turned on her alarm system because the neighborhood was just SAFE and they'd never had any problems. LIE NUMBER ONE!
The day I moved in to my apartment complex, I received a notice on my door saying that several apartments had been getting broken into for the past couple of weeks. I let this slide - we live in Atlanta, what do you expect' However, this was not the last of the troubles this complex has had. Several weeks later we get another letter saying that garages and cars were now being broken in to. Are you serious!' What a LIAR! Ohh, but it gets worse. A month or so later - THE MAILBOXES KEPT GETTING BROKEN IN TO! It just gets worse and worse guys. Some drunk driver totally demolished one of the outdoor BRICK sheds, WITH A SECURITY GUARD ON DUTY WHO DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING! What is going on here!'
The leasing agents also told me that there were ABSOLUTELY no bugs... she said in the number of years she had lived there she had never seen a bug. LIE NUMBER TWO! It took us 3 weeks to exterminate all of the bugs we found in the apartment. Roaches fell from the ceiling, fuzzy worm looking things with legs crawled all over the carpet, ants we're all over the bathroom, and TERMITES fell off the porch above us! Talk about crappy up keeping...
The leasing agents stick towing stickers on cars that are parked in the parking lot with expired tags or that haven't been moved in a while. However, they don't tell you of a car limit when you move in, they simply say "free parking, first come first serve". So we (my boyfriend and I) brought his other car (which was unregistered because it was in the process of being sold) and parked it in the parking lot for a week and a half before it got towed away. After the fourth day of the car being parked in an UNDESIREABLE parking spot, a place NO car is ever parked in, they stuck a fat yellow sticker on the back. I attempted to go to the office to ask them what this was all about and to try and explain to them that it's in the process of being sold and will be out of the way shortly and the were EXTREMELY RUDE. They acted as if they didn't care at all - it wasn't their problem and they didn't have time for sure "none-sense" (rude, rude, and unprofessional). 3 days later... THE CAR WAS GONE, yet, the other 10 cars that also had tow away stickers on them we still parked nicely in there spots. EVEN THE MOTORCYCLE THAT HAD A TOWING STICKER ON IT FOR THREE MONTHS WAS STILL IN IT'S SPOT! They did it on purpose, in spite. It was one of the most CHILDISH things I have ever experienced in my life. Had I said NOTHING to them, they would have left it alone.
AMLI at Clairmont is a disaster area. The drains are constantly clogged for no reason, the garbage disposal has NEVER worked, the closet has a lingering smell of urine that will not go away (no matter what, lysol, febreeze, scented candles - all failures), and the hot water is only hot for 2 1/2 minutes (SHOWER FAST!)
Worse experience of my life. I will never live in another AMLI. In fact, I WILL NEVER LIVE IN ANOTHER APARTMENT. They have ruined all apartment complexes for me. F-----

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who's been treated unfairly at AMLI on Clairmont. I should have known when we got our quote from Amli on Briarcliff for a 2 bedroom at $725/mo and then refusing to give us that same apartment for the quote promised even had the nerve to tell me I failed the credit check after I saw very clearly I was in the green, I should have known AMLI is a disaster. And I agree completely, I won't be steering away just from AMLI in the future, I'll never live in an apartment community ever again! I can't wait until my lease ends on 07/06/09!!!

I just had to reply to the first post. No leasing agent would ever tell you the community was safe. You are either a liar or you misunderstood. If for some reason a leasing agent were to tell you the place was safe you would have to be a moron to believe them. CRIME HAPPENS EVERYWHERE!!!!! Seems to me you were lucky enough to live somewhere they sent notices so you could set your alarm, remove your valuables from your car and keep your eyes open for anyone suspicious. And "no bugs"??? We live in Georgia, be realistic. Depending on what floor you live on and what kind of surrounding (woods, standing water, parking lot) may determine how many and what type, but everywhere is going to have bugs. You should have asked for pest control to come and spray, almost all apartment communities offer this free service weekly because bugs are a natural occurance here in the south. If you would have read the lease before you signed it you would have know all vehicles have to be driveable. Again, that is anywhere you live. Imagine if everyone had their "car they were selling" parked there. No parking would be left. I agree with you about one thing. You definitely should never live in an apartment again. You don't seem to have enough common sense.
Did you ever contact maintenance about any of your issues?? Unfortunately they don't have ESP and may not be aware of the length of shower you take, or other issues in your apartment.
I hope when you purchase something that there is never any crime in the neighborhood, none of your neighbors complain about your junk cars sitting in the lawn and there are no bugs. The mortgage company won't let you out of the contract, and it doesn't end after a year.

Wait, it didn't strike me until now.
You're a leasing agent are you, you sneaky ----- you! That's funny. Did I hit a sore spot? You seem to be very upset by my post. SO upset you just had to set me straight? I love it when I get people all huffed up!
I'm glad to see I got a response out of one of you! My mission is accomplished! :) :) :)

I totally agree with you and of course leasing agents do lie and they do tell you that the area is safe. You are correct with everything you say about this crappy, awful place. I have lived here for 2 years and hated every minute of it. Big roaches, centipedes in bathtubs, on the floor, ants crawling on your walls, and at one point tons of baby roaches all over the kitchen. The amenities are old and the washer and drier is so loud the neighbor in another unit can hear them. My friends have told me that I deserve better than where I stay. Once a friend of mine went into the bathroom-- I heard a lot boom!!! It was him killing a roach on the sink.. Talk about MAJOR EMBARASSMENT!! The carpet cleaner does a lousy job and the staff is only concerned about getting their rent on time. Within the two years I have lived here, the fitness area has been vandalized, my car was broken into, cars have been stolen, mailboxes have been broken into, the toiled is always clogged, the water has been off at different times for longer than 24 hours, and the walls are thin as hell. On numerous nights, I have been awakened by because my upstairs neighbor bedroom wall neighbor having sex. Come on now, when you can hear someone get up to go clean up after sex, obviously the walls are too thing! This place is CRAP and to think a friend of mine suggested Amli because her boyfriend lives in the nicer, newer units in Kennesaw. I don't even go outside my house at night without running back in at full speed, the gates don't work sometimes and the leasing agents just don't care. SAD, very sad, especially at a time when the economy has digressed-- the one thing a person wants to do is go home to a nice, clean, living situation, not a bug infested dump!. Well, the good news is I am almost outta here so my prison sentence is OVA baby!
