Worst Place to live in Sandy Springs

I lived at Laurels for almost 2 years. I was not aware that I was paying $1,300 a month to live in a section 8 community!
The management is unprofessional and uncaring. They increase your rent at least $100.00 per month with every renewal! When you try to discuss a lower increase their response is, move if you don't want the increase.
Utilies will cost you a fortune since you don't pay them directly to a utility company. Want to pay $300 a month for electric, water & sewer' You could live in Buckhead or Dunwoody for less than Laurels!!
When I moved out they never did a move out inspection or sent me a letter. They charged me over $1,500 for fees that I did not owe.
I do not recommend this place to anyone!
Live there if you want to pay high rent to live in an overpriced and overated place & have your car broken into and have hood rats outside your windows fighting and cussing every day.

That's the worst part: Section 8 people get cheap rent that ends up being paid for by other residents in higher rent for them. That is reverse discrimination and should be illegal. Attractive community but not a good or safe place to live if you are not a Section 8 resident.

actually, section-8 is a government run subsidy, sort of like food stamps. It allows welfare recipients to live in fabulous communities for about $20 a month, while the government picks up the tab...;So...its not quite "reverse discrimination," because it isn't a case of black/white, it's a case of tax payer/non-taxpayer. Personally, I call apartment communities and ask if they accept section-8, PRIOR to leasing with them, that way I know which ones to avoid. Why on earth would I pay market rent to live near people that do not understand the meaning of hard work and respect for property?
