The Good:
When you first see Uptown Square Apartments you seem to be overrun with excitement. They're really pretty apartments on the outside, and the grounds are kept up pretty well. It's also close to MARTA which could be a plus or negative, depending on the person living here. However, that's about where the good ends.
The Bad:
This was my first time living in an apartment. I'm not from Atlanta, and have always lived in a house. Little did I know that you shouldn't always choose an apartment based on how they look. I guess my first sign should have been when the leasing agent handling our original application quit, and soon after, so did the next. To be honest, not a single leasing agent that was here a year ago is still here. They've all quit because of the upper management.
This complex is money hungry, and could careless about the residents living here. They fail to send out reminders or information to residents. This includes your monthly bill. Ours rent was due on Feb. 1st of this month yet we didn't receive our bill until Feb. 7th. You can always go down to the leasing office to find out how much you owe, but this will become a pain as they are rarely helpful.
I also hope and pray that anyone living here doesn't order items that won't fit into their mail box. Countless times we've received a notice in our mailbox saying that we have a package in the leasing office, but it's rare that it's ever found once the slip is turned in.
My keycard stopped working MONTHS ago, and it's still not fixed. And actually, I was just in the leasing office and some lady came in to get a replacement card because she had been in 4 or 5 times already to have it re-programmed and it still won't work.
The premises aren't secure at all. The "secure" doors can be easily gotten into with nothing more than a small knife. Yes, there are "security guards" roaming the grounds, but honestly... they're helpless.
Noise is a HUGE program. I'm one of the unlucky residents that happens to live across from where the EON Complex is going up. All during the day you can hear the many annoying sounds of construction. The walls and ceilings are also paper thin. All during the night I can hear the people above me running around and even listen to what they're watching on TV.
For what you pay, you would expect a strong, durable apartment. It's not the case though, Just as the walls are paper thin, the doors are hollow and the carpet is horrendous. I have one of the apartments with a stoop, which I thought would be neat, but it turns out to be more of a burden than help. Even with taking your shoes off ON the stoop, the carpet STILL gets dirty from your socks after a couple of weeks. I've been to many other apartment complexes and have yet to find any apartment that uses the same extremely light carpet. It's almost as if they're wanting you to get it dirty, because it's nearly unavoidable. The carpet alone is reason enough not to live here.
I'm now awaiting our move out date and wondering just how much money of mine they're going to try and swindle out of me. After reading the other reviews of people and the legal trouble they've had with this complex, I have a feeling that my legal insurance will be put to use.
Whatever you do, don't live here. It's awful. There are MUCH better, and cheaper complexes out there.
PLEASE HEAD THIS WARNING. YOU WILL REGRET YOUR DECISION TO LIVE HERE. GUARANTEED.

My card never works either. Gary (I think that's his name) has been decent to work with. All of the parkin garage doors can be opened by just pushing, no card required. The security would be helpful if they weren't spending hours watching the tv in the gym
