Please don't listen to the bull jive folks. These threads are usually populated by the few unhappy people per year which tries to damage the apartment's reputation. That's why I always add the percentage by 25 to get the real percentage on these sites. Folks, I have been a resident at Veranda, now known as Columns at Akers Mill for an entire 2 years. I want to finally buy something but it's hard for me to move out something so peaceful and beautiful. Staff is the nicest people you will meet, mainteance comes in less than 24 hours after every request. Maybe in an hour or two to be frank. There is so much parking you can throw a party and everyone will have a parking space. I love walking my dog through the nature trails and up and down the hills for exercise. The apartment sits on the beautiful chattahoochie river for viewing pleasure from the rent office. The front gate has not been working for some time now but they sent notices out that it will be fixed soon. The side gates still work and there are breezeway security doors for each building that work on most buildings. The property has a design and features you will not find again for this price. Not to mention the free mirrors on the wall, sunken living rooms, crown molding, we sit high on the heels to see the 285 expressway and more. I never seen a bug in my apartment besides a moth every now and then when I have left my patio door open. Walls are thick, you do not hear things easily next to you, below or above you. I am so lucky to find such a comfortable apartment as my first apartment. If you have a pet, they will love the property! Apartment is a 5 star and nothing less. Ok, so even if you did have a couple bad experiences. But how is it really compared to other apartments that charges the same rate' Really..

JC...I use to live at the Veranda too and my stay there for 2 years have been pleasant, but I came to a conclusion that some units are more buggy, noisy and dirty. Just consider yourself lucky that you stay in a pleasant unit. Again, I did enjoy my stay there, but it was alot of water bugs because there are some tenants that are not clean, so if they have bugs...you have bugs. I use to have my unit sprayed once a month because of my no so clean neighbors. And yes it can be noisey if your neighbors throw alot of parties. So it really matters which unit you reside in for an example a unit next to me was robbed twice whereas I never and was fortunate to not experience crime in my unit. With all that said and done...I must agree with you, I did enjoy residing at the Columns when it was Veranda.

I'm looking to move into the Columns and after reading the reviews I must admit I am a little skeptical. I am a single female and safety is a major issue for me. Approximately how many of the buildings do not have breezeway security doors? What are the good units? And also I read another review that spoke of apartment inspections. Is this true?

I wouldn't move there. The unit I had had a nice layout but I could smell and hear everything that my neighbors did. My A/C leaked into the lower apartment on more than one occasion and soaked my carpet. This happened mid summer and they asked me to turn my unit off! Then they left a fan on for days to dry the drenched carpet that ran my electric bill up an additional 40 dollars for the month. Had to leave it on because the A/C continued to leak! When it turned into Columns at Akers Mill they started letting less than honorable people start living in the complex that were sitting on the stoops when I left for work in the morning and were still sitting there when I came home during the evening. The gate didn't work and robberies increased. The neighbors fought in the hall and one neighbor had an intolerable dog that I simply wanted to kick like a football. The tried to charge me an excessive amount of money for them to simply have to do the normal cleaning after a move. The blonde bimbo was very rude. (the manager) Overall, I wouldn't move into that apartment complex. Everyone that I know who lived there are running for cover now. By the way, parking was horrible. If you didn't make it home by 6:30 you had to park what seemed like a mile away from your building. It was very comforting since people were stealing the rims off of cars and breaking into them. I don't know how I slept through all that worrying!

I bet you don't like it as much as you used to with the new management staff and the new gate system....

This first comment must be someone working in the leasing offisce trying to save business.... Everyone is moving out... i never see roaches in my apartment, however there are Rats. Accordign to Brany in the leasing office it comes with the territory, and she soesn't know where they are coming from. Instead of calling to find out, the send maintenance to place traps in the middle of your kitchen floor. Don't move Here!! I warn you!!!! Ever since management changed things have gone down hill. I have been living here two years, this last year has been the worst. I WILL NOT be renewing my lease!!!
