I lived at the Villages at Carver for a year & a half. It is a MIXED community, so yes, they accept Section 8. Guess it took over a year for it to get the best of me...NOT ALL Section 8 residents are to blame. I stand by that b/c my family didn't always have money either but deserved to have a decent place to live. I mostly blame the economy & FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY PROVIDED to the residents.

Something should definitely be done about the gates. I lived by the leasing office & the access gates on my end let 2-3 cars in at a time. There would be ppl waiting for you to either come in or leave so they can enter after you. There are also "side gates" that require NO access code for anyone to walk in. So it's really not secure at all. It gives a false sense of security. You never know who lives there.

My apt was broken into in November, 2007. Then, I was robbed at gunpoint and had my car stolen a few months later in January, 2008. We stayed a few months after the apt was broken into b/c we told them we wanted a 6 month lease. We didn't get a copy of the lease, so we ended up having to break the lease b/c they DID NOT give us a 6 month lease. I hate that I ever renewed. When my roommate and I complained, they treated us like we were the criminals - not the victims. Blamed us for not having the alarm cut on to "deter" the criminal. They've already kicked in the door, why not hurry and get the job done' The maintenance did a crappy job "fixing" the door after the break in! Why should I be questioned about being "aware of my surroundings" ' Crime is everywhere. It'd drive me crazy to assume everyone is out to get me!

The manager downstairs was sympathetic throughout it all but the 'infamous' one everyone is always talking about was uncaring. Told me I'd be charged for the keys that were stolen with my car and didn't want to take time out to let me turn in the one key I had. They tend to create their own hours and closed randomly for a 'meeting' around 10 am. If it wasn't for one lady raising hell about her access key, they would've kept ignoring.

As far as the complex itself, never had a roach/bug issue until one roommate had issues with leaving food in the sink and not taking the trash regularly. Even then, there weren't many seen and they were small ones - not cockroaches. The grounds were kept pretty clean. Apts were energy-efficient. Never saw a bill over $85 and it's total electric - a plus.

Live here at your own risk. As my male friends say "get a gun" or as the management will tell you "be aware of your surroundings". HA! You shouldn't have to buy a gun to feel secure when they say they have "security". Where was security when I was robbed' Right across the street as he drove off in my car!

First, I have been rushed off the phone and hung up on after talking with Temple with patience. Once she feels like the information has been given, even if you have questions you may get a " thank you! " CLICK! I pay a grand a month so i think i am well deserving of a bug free, safe place to live, after all I am a student and have not applied for section 8, so if that is the section i am living in, why? And why arent the section 8 residents atleast being given the same courtesy as the people who pay more? I do believe that you amenities are nicer, but when people are making section 8 money but not paying section 8 prices, what do you have to say about that? Don't they deserve even MORE than the people who can afford to pay only 75 dollars more than us? When we work hard and struggle for our money especially, i make 6 dollars an hour, so i think my money is hard earned and i dont see the benefits through this apartment home. And about the customer service any business professional will tell you that even when the customer has a attitude ( this does happen ) you have to maintain a certain rhetoric of professionalism and respect, because ultimately in the end, the manager is wrong for not diffusing the situation, yet encouragin it.

How can this be true when Temple was out sick from 9/2/07 and did not return until mid October. Something smells here!

**See new post.** The more contact I had with the leasing office, the more I am able to agree w/ you on the professionalism of the infamous one. However, I still disagree w/ you on the amenities. I think it's a nice apt complex - just in a rough, rebuiding-staged area. The grounds are kept up and I never had an issue there nor did I have a major bug/ant problem. I agree that we all work hard & should be able to live comfortably in a nice are but I still say you get what you pay for. The apts at Carver are way below the avg pricing of downtown/midtown Atlanta apartments, so it's to be expected. No apt complex can guarantee security. However, if the security provided is below par to let anyone roam the grounds, they shouldn't promote that false sense of security to the potential residents. I learned my lesson.
