We have been living at Westchester @ Clairmont for over a year and this complex has gone through four property managers; none better than the last. Dog ---- everywhere (including sidewalks and our dog died from a known parasite found in dog feces), our air conditioner freezes up ever three months, when you call the office for a manintenance request, nine chances out of ten they will NOT record it and then they treat you like you don't know what you are taling about when you bring it to their attention, the gates are constantly broken, there is garbage throughout, dogs barking on patios constantly. Bottom line, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

I'm also a resident at Westchester at Clairmont and I think this assessment of the property is not completely true. I've lived here for over a year as well. It is true that the complex has gone through a few property managers, but the latest ones including David have been great. I had a problem with the ending/renewal of my lease and David was very understanding and willing to make the correction. In regards to the dogs, most people pick up their doggie poop. I'm a dog owner and as often as I walk my dogs, I hardly see a lot of dog poop everywhere. When there was an issue, the leasing office placed notices advising that people would be fined for doing this. So every now and then you'll see it. I'm sorry to hear about your dog's death. But if your died of parvo that is a very dangerous disease and if the dog was a puppy, it definitely needed to be vaccinated to prevent against this issue. My first puppy became ill with parvo and he was living with my mom and using her backyard to do his business. But the neighborhood dogs would frequently come into her backyard and use it as well. I hadn't gotten my dog vaccinated and this all resulted in him getting parvo. But by the grace of God he survived. I'm saying all of this to say, that no matter if you're living in an apartment or a house, if dogs are in the neighborhood, you can't blame the homeowner or the leasing office for the potential of your dog becoming ill. You have to protect as much as you can by getting them vaccinated and even then, sometimes that's not 100% prevention.
My air conditioning unit also freezes. I noticed it happened more often when I kept frequently adjusting the thermostat throughout the day instead of leaving at one temperature. However, every time I've had the issue, maintenance has been quick to respond and taken care of it without any qualms. They know the routine by now and know what to do.
It is true the gates are always constantly broken but that's not the leasing office's fault. That's the tenants and their guests that create that situation. Gated communities are a nice concept but not always fail proof. I've lived in three gated communities and unless you have the types of gates like they have at the Post apartments, you'll always have broken gates.
I don't know what section of the complex you live in, but I'm glad that I don't live in that area because I don't see a lot of garbage throughout. In fact, they have a regular garbage valet that picks up and maintenance comes by throughout the day to pick up trash. Occasionally, I hear dogs barking on the patios, and sometimes those dogs are mine. LOL! But as soon as they start barking, I bring mine in. I can't speak for everyone else, but I can say, I don't hear a lot of dogs barking on a patio all of the time. Again, maybe I've just been blessed to not live in your part of the community.
What I do know. Is that I had a really BAD ANT PROBLEM when we first moved in. Within a month, I didn't have those problems any longer. I haven't seen another ant except for the ones that our outside in the grass. All of my maintenance requests have been repaired in a timely manner, even the annoying issue we had with the smoke detector.
The only thing that I've noticed that is changing and I fear may bring more negative changes is that a lot of the original tenants have moved out and it doesn't appear that they're being very selective or scrutinize carefully who they're letting move in now. I've seen this happen at so many other properties that I've lived in. They're very nice in the beginning, but the tenants move on, and the not so nice tenants move in, and everything goes downhill. I pray that doesn't happen here, at least not for another year.
