Honey, we have Rats

Let me begin by saying this is a nice apartment complex. The convenience to major highways, shopping, etc. is great. Maintenance and repair guys are on top their game. However, there is something that cannot be ignored. Garbage piling at central dumpster was clue #1. Strange sounds at nocturnal night was clue #2. A pile of half eaten bananas was clue #3. Going downstairs in the middle of the night for a simple glass of water when this huge thing ran across the room and scurried under the heating vent door was the last clue I needed. I set traps that some would deem inhumane, caught him two days later, and it definitely was a rat from a strange species. The tail was thick and long and it was an older looking rat. He made a gapping hole in the insulation/vent piping from the couple who moved out next door. When the lease is up, I'm ghost, and I can tell you I am not afraid of these things, as I have worked in labs, and was reared in rural areas where field mice and snakes were considered playmates. I just loathe the fact that the droppings of these rodents DO CAUSE SICKNESSES AND DISEASES....and for the money I pay to rent here, the economy, the stress of being overworked (those of us who are fortunate to still be employed), the last thing I need is to come home, plop down on the couch, look up, and have Ben staring at me asking how long do I plan on being on the couch before I set dinner. He'll take his on the floor. I do think that the contracting/digging that is currently happining at the corner of Shadowood and Powers Ferry AND the consistent digging across the road another apartment complex is contributing to the rodent issue. Whenever there is digging, it disturbs the habitat of rats and mice, and they will in turn disturb us. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
