We needed a cheap place while our house out of town was on the market. Yorke Downs is convenient and cheap, but that's about it. My husband, an engineer and skilled Mr. Fixit, repaired a number of things because the maintenance department had no idea a) what was the problem or b) how to fix it. My husband sprayed for roaches and for black mold, and installed a light under the sink to discourage mold from taking over. We had significant difficulty getting Yorke Downs to reimburse the parts and we didn't even ask them to pay for his time and expertise. The washers and dryers in the on-site laundry frequently malfunction and the laundry owners will not reimburse money. Yorke Downs refuses to intervene to help residents who have been cheated out of laundry money. To his credit, the maintenance man is very pleasant and came quickly to repair my gate when the chain broke, locking me out while my husband was at work. The grounds are neatly kept. The office staff has frequent turnover and most have been rude, lazy, and at least one of them would look you in the face and lie. The threatening nastygrams to all residents for things a few people did were really annoying. Our house has now sold and we are moving. Enough said''
