We are stationed here for my husband's AIT at Fort Gordon...My parents rented here temporarily and I am staying with them until I find a place of my own... which will NOT be here!! this place is not safe for us to come home at night alone. There is never anywhere to park close by our appartment...we have to park a few buildings down (and all together we only have 2 cars). There are often times people doing drugs in the pool gazebo and making drug deals in the parking lot. It's always noisy...lots of cars come through at all hours of the night screaming out their windows. On top of that, our dishwasher leaks and management just says "make sure you use the right soap"...we do not use anything other than dishwasher cubes, but they will not fix it. There is mold around all the doorways and tub. The stairs leading to the upstairs are weak and rickety...seems like they are made of cardboard. The floors are unlevel...they squeek bad and you can feel boards coming up or sinking in. You can hear the neighbors in all directions. The whole apartment smells like cat pee and we don't have cats. We found cat food under the cabinets, though. Management will not send out repairmen in a timely manner. You have to bug them for a week, then the repairmen make stupid comments like "you pay for what you get" and "we only fix one thing at a time". No kidding... I would reccomend paying more and living elsewhere...horrible experience!! I am definately going to talk to the people living in the area befor I commit to a lease...not just take what looks good from the outside but is crap on the inside. I was considering renting here as well to be near my family, but after the couple weeks here...I will be going elsewhere. I will not be staying here much longer! I feel sorry for my parents who are stuck in this lease!

As the courtesy officer on one half of the apartment complex, this complex has a good side and a bad side. Even the staff is aware of this. The good side is pretty quiet, it is an apartment so you have lots of people in a small area. It tends to be a bit noisy but the office side is quieter than most complexes I work around. The maintenance staff does the best they can with what they are provided with from the corporation. Money is the biggest problem. This maintenance crew does 10 times better work that some of the last ones I have dealt with. I have seen 4 different groups in 3 years. These apartments were built in the 70's they are old and as with anything old the creak! I encourage this reviewer to live in the barracks on post if she thinks these apartments are crap. I have been there and you talk about noisy! As for drug use in the pool area, I would wonder how this person knows for sure that the persons are using illegal drugs and what time of day this is happening. The only trouble I have there is people drinking alcohol around the pool. There are no signs posted preventing that so until management fixes that my hands are tied. I hope this reviewer goes to another complex close by this one. She feels this one is bad she should see what other choices are out there and I feel sorry for her results.

I lived there on the "bad side" on a 6 month lease from September 05' to March 06'. They aren't the BEST apartments but they aren't the worse either, I did have an instance with a peeping tom at my bedroom window one night, but other then that no problems. Although shortly after I moved out and my now ex-boyfriend was still living there we found termites eating through the wall in the living room which was not a good sign at all.
I would honestly recomment Sanctuary Apartments. They are owned by ATC Development who owns a few different properties in Augusta, but Sanctuary was my favorite. I lived there before moving back to California in November of 06' and absolutely loved it. There are no amenities on site... no pool, no laundry room, and no leasing office. The leasing office is located down the road from Merrick Place, and the staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The apartments are very clean and the community is quiet. I had a 1 bedroom efficiency apartment that was 520sqft, not big at all but perfect for just myself and it came with a washer and dryer in the apartment. I never had any problems there and maintanece was quick and helpful, which I only had to call them about my closet door because it fell off the hinge. Neighbors were all friendly and quiet. I'm a 25 year old female and I lived alone there with absolutely not a fear in the world. I would have never lived alone at Merrick Place especially after the peeping tom incident.
I would honestly recommend these apartments for you, and they aren't far from the Target shopping center, they are up the road off of Wheeler near the Knology office. You can look them up on www.atcdevelopment.com. I paid $440 a month for my little 1 bedroom and it was all well worth it.
