I have only lived at Rocky Creek a few weeks but from the very beginning its been nothing but trouble. My fiance is in the military and the day we were to move in he was given permission to not go to work, he showed up to the apartment and was told he was not allowed to come in because they had not finished cleaning it. Shortly after moving in we discovered there is only one cable hookup in the entire two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. After going back and forth with the apartment complex management, the cable company, three trips from cable technicians and contractors, we were forced to purchase a cable splitter so we would be able to put cable into the secondary bedroom which we've been using as an office. When we moved in, there was a vertical blind missing from those hanging on the balcony door, three of the electrical outlets were not working and the guest bathroom toilet began to leak within a week of moving in. One of the three electrical outlets was fixed, the other two are still not working. The toilet was addressed by maintenence with a temporary fix of caulking a crack in the tank, the toilet then ran on a regular basis every day. We called maintenence again to come fix it, they worked on it it and that very day it leaked ALL over our bathroom floor. They came back in to tighten something and then discovered something in the tank was broken, we were told it would be fixed first thing the next morning. I waited throughout most of the day, maintenence was a no show so I went to drop something off in the office and I see the maintence guy. He tells me not to worry, he didn't forget and he would come by the next day. Well he came by and installed the part the toilet needed but again its leaking on the bathroom floor. The same night the electricity in the closet and bathroom of the master bedroom mysteriously stop working, we reset the circuit breaker but to no avail.

The apartment itself is nice, the buildings are obviously very old and little has been done to take good care of them by former management. The current management staff is incredibly curteous and helpful, however they have only owned this property for about a year or so and I don't think they are aware of how desparately some of the things in these buildings need to be REPLACED. The maintenance staff is super friendly and I think they know what they are doing but its impossible to keeps such an old building in good repair without replacing everything in sight.

One night after a blackout the timer on the stove refused to shut off, so we called the on-call maintenance to fix it and he just removed the whole damn thing because he couldn't get it to shut off. He pulled the stove away from the wall so he could get to it, and behind it was probably about 10 years worth of filth and food, this is Georgia and that can attract an infestation of bugs really easily given the climate.

The lining that surrounds the oven is coming off and the refridgerator has two shelfs on the door, but the inside of the door is badly cracked so one of the shelf guards CONSTANTLY falls out if the refridgerator is opened too roughly, spilling whatever was on that shelf all over the floor. We fixed it with duct tape since we knew we weren't going to get a new one over cracked plastic. There isn't very good insulation, so when my fiance and I are eating dinner we can hear anything and everything going on in the hallway.

I know it sounds like this place is absolutely terrible given everything that I've said, and I would imagine if it were two working people (I haven't found a job yet, so I am at home to wait around for the maintence/cable/whoever) it would be a lot more difficult trying to get time off to wait for these things to be resolved. However, I'm originally from New Jersey where an apartment of this size would easily cost us quadruple what we are paying and the management and maintenance people would have a much worse attitude. Despite all of the problems, we are quite happy here. The grounds are relatively well kept, there's plenty of parking, the pool appears to be clean although I haven't used it yet, there's a tennis/basketball court, a playground for children and a pond that they stock with fish. The apartment is somewhere around 1100 square feet and the price is well worth it. I think this is a great place to start out in and I would definately reccommend it to my friends.
