The housing is adequate for the rent, however, the housing itself is old although they are in the process of renovating. There is a new gym, laundry facility and seasonal pool. The jacuzzi has since been cemented over. We have had problems with maintenance as they are so short staffed. Our kitchen overflowed with backwater and trash from the IHOP next door and it took them three days to even come look at the mess. Most apartments only have half dishwashers and there are limited outlets that work as well as light switches. Additionally, there are no light fixtures or wires to install lights in any of the bedrooms, except over the vanity in the master bedroom. (this is if you rent a 2 bedroom apartment). The playground is nice, when it has not been trashed by the neighborhood kids and the pool as well. I would recommend seriously looking at the apartment you will be living in before signing anything. Furthermore, if you want to move out before your lease is up you must pay 4 months of rent in order to do so. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
We recently discovered mold and severe water damage in our bathroom that has yet to be fixed, although both maintenance and the manager are aware of the problem. We are afraid to even shower in our own apartment for fear of inhaling what appears to be black mold. We were promised that the problem would be corrected last week but no one showed up, since then the mold has grown at an increasing rate. The walls and ceiling are bulging due to water build up, presumably from a leak upstairs' (no one has investigated what is the root of all this mess). I am just waiting for the upstairs tenants bathtub to come crashing down on us any moment now. Since we have lived here (only 9 months) a tenant has been murdered on the premises and there have been armed break-ins. All of this information has been confirmed by Richmond County Police. We have a beautiful one year old daughter and want the best for her, however, since we are a military family we can not afford to break our lease so we will finish out our lease but definitely not renew it. I would strongly discourage other parents from leasing here, I know the office looks nice and all, but the apartments are far from safe.
