Pest Problems, Ignorant Management, Fires

The worst place I've ever lived. Pest control visits each apartment every three months, but still cannot get rid of roaches "or palmetto bugs"(what tradition management says are not roaches). After talking to Renee (manager, who says in the south is normally to have roaches and she has some in her house too) I insisted some action cause I was going to the health department for inhabitable conditions, pest control started to go every Friday but even one of the pest control guys told me that the outside areas were too dirty and full of "dead wood" that it would be impossible prevent having roaches around. But the truth is that it seems their roaches are between the walls because no windows were ever open.
One of the walls started having MOLD after few months, maintenance came scratch the paint out and repainted saying that it wouldn t be a problem again, but they were wrong cause that was incrusted in the wall.
As soon as I moved I was disappointed, it was few weeks of there 12/2007 fire when a new neighbor told me that the responsible for that fire was maintenance personnel of Traditions Apartments, but they would never accept there responsibility (supposedly the fire started in the maintenance shop in the building that got in fire), well now maintenance had there new shop in the building I started living.
In the time I was there the company managing Traditions Apartments changed there name maybe to avoid any kind of demands and prior to that the apartments name was Colonial Village probably for similar reasons or bad reputation. After the fire in 12/2008 they will probably change there names again, for them probably means a new start, but with bad management they will always continue having the same problems you cannot fix problems putting patches everywhere.
The A/C is really in bad shape it does not cool enough and in one single hot day at least 7 apartments called for problems I was one of them. For me it sounds impossible to have A/C on with two fans and still sweating, specifically there were two weeks in summer in which the A/ C unit was tripping outside and maintenance had to be working on it. By coincidence my electrical bill got from normal $90 up to $ 285 in that month when maintenance was working on Ga Power told me it was probably the inefficiency of the A/C units were causing that and to ask Traditions management to verify and take proper actions. I gave management 3 consecutive months of my electrical bill so they could see the difference they agreed they had problems with A/C that month and they were gonna contact me later for follow up and possible refund when they reach a decision. I m not sure how much time that may take cause I am still waiting for it. I got tired of the same response from Ginna (secretary) and Renee was never there to give an answer.
Additionally, maintenance has the right to get in the apartment whenever they want and they make you sign for that in the lease. I understand an emergency, but not for simple things that can wait until I m in my apartment. Pest control knocks once and then open the door with the key management gives them and I really got in an argument when they catch my wife getting out of the shower in a towel, just because they cannot respect privacy or even call prior of getting in. Management says by law of pest control they have to do it; if your there or your not doesn t matter, if they invade your privacy doesn t matter, but this is absurd. After asking management if they were responsible for anything missing in the house or anything that would happen to my family after they gave keys to contractors, Renee stayed quite and just replied that by law they have to do it. That day she let me know she does not care about anyone in the apartment complex.
I couldn t hold more to live under these conditions and I moved 4 months before finishing my leasing time, which is impossible to break without loosing a big amount of money. For the 4 months left I paid $2400 (If I wanted to break the contract I would have to pay $3800), so I paid it and left it unoccupied. Only one maintenance personnel was nice enough to tell me it was the best decision I was taken because it was not worth to live there and he said management would never fix the problems in the complex cause they were trying repair things for the cheapest price.
I bought a house in Evans, I pay less monthly payments and my family feels secure in this house. Renee (traditions manager) you were wrong cause in the last five months I have not seeing a roach where I live, so not everywhere in the south you have them. Renee if you have them in your house (as you said you did) its cause you re probably too dirty or you live in Traditions Apartments, maybe you take care of your house as you do of Traditions .
If you anyone needs to rent near that area I recommend 100 times more Springhouse Apartments (which I lived prior to Traditions Apartments), they really care about the people living there.

I've been keeping up with the reviews about Traditions, since I left in September. The building that just burned down, and it really burned down to the ground, was one that I had occupied previously. I've posted a very poor review of Traditions before. Something that another review brought up was the high electric bill. Two months before I moved which was July, my electric bill was over $250.00. Needless to say I was shocked. Normally it was 80 to 90 dollars. See I lived there alone, and worked long hours on post. If I was there it was to sleep and shower. Laundry was done at the complex facility. Weekends where spent at a friends house. I called Georgia Power and complained about that. GP came out and re-read the meter. They took about $90.00 off that bill. I still thought it was strange. I paid it mind you, don't want to have bad credit and all. July was the month my lease was up. I just wanted to leave. So I told management. Paid my 300.00, moving out fee. Oh yeah! If you want to move you better give management 60 days notice. Don't just walk in and say your moving out next month. See the last month you are there they raise the rent to get ready for this, "Normal Listing Price" or some crap like that. So I was paying 589.00 They raised it to 889.00. It came out to a $300.00 increase. The 300 was a slap in the face since I had always been on time with the rent, and didn't really complain too much. So I paid. So back to the poser bill. My August electric bill was again over $100.00. I sucked it up. But for the 15 days of September that I lived there, final electric bill came out to $89.00. I couldn't believe it. Of course I paid. What got me thinking about all this non-sense again, well number one was the fire, and the fact that it was the building I lived in. Number two, since I have moved my power bill has averaged around $50.00. Its $13.00 just to have the service. Now I noticed while walking my dog around there. Yeah that's why I moved! They wanted a 300.00 pet fee. Glad I moved, the fire and all. The AC units could be upgraded. And the hot water heater in my unit was rather old and dusty.
Hey!!!If you live at traditions and like it, great good for you. For the most part I liked it. Some things got on my nerves. The management was somewhat rude. Especially the secretary.
Finally the move out. As your supposed to do, I cleaned my apartment from top to bottom, I mean it wasn't rental ready, but it wasn't a pig sti either. When I turned in the keys they where too busy to come and inspect. So two weeks later I got a bill in the mail saying I owed $65.00 for a dirty oven. Wow! Forgot to clean the oven. Maybe if they had inspected before I turned in the keys. Oh well. What can you do. Your going to pay. Because you don't want some poorly ran second rate Apartment complex screwing up your credit because you forgot to clean the oven. My advise is that if you choose to live there you better get ready to pay.

Traditionsblows, I too moved out almost a year ago and STILL check this website because I hate Traditions and their Management. I feel like I was really taken advantage of--- we had major roach problems, our air conditioner didn't go below 83, maintenance came in without knocking or announcing who they were, we had no response by management to problems AND after much complaining--the extended our lease by three months and doubled the price of our rent. All this to say... I would do anything I could to take them out of business. I've never felt so strongly about another company before but I think that if I could protect another individual or family from going through the hell that I went through at Traditions... it would be worth it.

Hey Anonymous, I've been living in Evans for more than a year and didnt see ONE ROACH in my house. FYI and i quote" There's bugs everywhere in the South and it's not a big deal, theres so many at my house that i have to call pest control monthly too!!!!"(Renee's Word)Whats that????How come I DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT NOW!!Either way if you hang with her youre a liar too!!!! It ain't my fault if your family raised you with BUGS!!!!! Now please go hang out @ your friend's dirty house and leave me alone! You don't even live in traditions so you don't know what we have gone through cause of your filthy friend so youre not in a position to talk when you'll know what youre talking about than maybe i can considerate...But for the moment MMMM NO!! Thanks!
Thats your word: If you live in the south you are GOING to have bugs.. I know for a fact that the manager as you said lives in a dirty place.. hihihi!!!
