With any apartment I've ever lived in, as long as your payment was in the office before opening on the 6th of the month, you were not charged a late fee.
Suddenly without any notice this apartment has decided to tape up their payment slot on the 5th of the month if you don't come in before close of business and charge you a late fee of $100 plus tell you that they will start proceeding for eviction on the 10th if your rent is not paid by then.
