I have been a renter for six months and have never really complained about anything, but I've got a huge issue with this complex now. The security gate to the complex was broken (for the umpteenth time this year) and my parking spots beside my building were full when I came home last night around 11pm. Being a small young female, I didn't want to walk alone in the dark half a mile since I'm in the back of the complex (security issues) so I parked infront of three other parked cars along the curb on the side of my building. Although I was not blocking anyone in, nor was I in a firelane or in a no-parking zone, the complex towed my car and left the other cars parked with no notification! I have never seen anything saying you can't park there and have seen cars parked in the same spot as mine every day for the past six months.
So I woke up this morning and go to work only to find my car missing (gasp), and thought it to be stolen. When I called the office, they were rude and said that the police department came in randomly and towed my car. I then cabbed it to the local department where I found out I was lied to and it was in fact not the pd, but the complex who towed my car plus six others "chosen at random" because we fit their interpretation of "improperly parked" *note that's not "illegally" parked because as I found out according to the pd, I was legally parked since my spaces were full.
So in conclusion I'd like to say if you can rent elsewhere, do. The poor customer relations and apathetic office workers make living here a nightmare. The least they could have done would have been to offer to pay the towing bill and apologize for my inconvenience, I am a resident after all. Shows how much they value me. I'll soon move to a more caring community that appreciates good renters.
