I lived at Mayfair for a year, and I definitely didn't love it. We moved into an apartment that had been vacant for some time, the weather stripping under the door was missing and the kitchen and bathrooms were infested with roaches. Little roaches coming out from behind the appliances, out of the cabinets, our of spaces in the wall. Absolutely disgusting. We moved in on a Friday and when I called the office to tell them the problem, they said they couldn't get anybody for pest control out there until the next Thursday. So we bought all the roach killer we could find, and the roaches eventually went away. We still couldn't unpack our food or use our kitchen for the first week until the roaches were gone. Disgusting.
The maintenance crew changed a lot while we were there, some were better than others. Our problems eventually got fixed. Our air conditioner leaked through the wall and onto the carpet. After we were chastised for not checking our filter regularly, the leak was fixed, but the water damage on the wall and the carpet was left to mildew.
The noise was ridiculous here. We could constantly hear our neighbors above us. It didn't help that they had two bid dogs hanging out in the apartment all day. We could hear them go to the bathroom, flush the toilet, wash their hands, walk across the floor, watch tv, listen to music, and talk on the phone. I spent one week listening to their James Taylor's greatest hits on repeat. My favorite was when they left town every weekend, but left their alarm clock on, so at 6am every Saturday and Sunday we had to listen to their alarm go off for an hour or so before it shut itself off. Our building looked into the parking lot of the neighboring student complex and there was ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS noise from car bass and screaming groups hanging out in the parking lot at all hours of the night.
Parking was fine and the grounds were fine ... but nothing special. And the speed bumps are horrendous. The pool is disgusting. We took one visit to the pool and after swimming in greasy water with clumps of hair and used bandaids, we never went back. The community and the pool is not gated, so plenty of people from the area bring their families to swim there. The grill areas are not kept up well at all.
I have always good experiences with the office staff in every apartment I've lived in. Unfortunately, the office staff at Mayfair is awful. The woman who works there is extremely rude and impatient. I dreaded every time I had to deal with her ... I wish there would have been MORE options for apartments to rent in Carrollton. The plus side ... we only had to pay $650/month for a 2Bedroom apartment. Completely affordable!
