From August 2007 to February 2008 River Place was hell! I think they paid somebody to figure out ways to fine people. I don't mean nickle and dime stuff; $25 to $100 bucks per fine, per room. The staff conducts room inspections like it is summer camp or something. And your room had better be tidy enough to be inspected, too many clothes on the floor and you get fined. Not sure, but I think you get grounded too. The overages were never under 15 dollars and often exceeded $30. Also, a roommate moved out early (he still has to pay full rent to not live here) and his quarter of utilities was cut. In theory, if my other two roommates leave I will have $30.00 to pay for all electricity/water/sewer/trash costs. River Place is under new management and they seem to understand that residents are customers, but I still don't recommend living here.
