I do not live in the grove anymore but I lived there from 2007-2009! I graduated and was more than happy to move out!
Things have been taking a turn for the positive it seems with the new management staff but it used to be horrible.
The pros that are listed is the gate, the 2 pools, the path to campus and the fitness center with tanning beds.
Last winter, the grove didn't run the pool pump causing the pool to fill up with mold and making the complex smell like a swamp or sewer. It was embarrassing to have family and friends come visit because our rooms overlooked the pool and it was green! You could drown in there and no one would have found you until they drained it in March/April!
The pool used to be THE place to be, but once too many people started to take advantage of the volleyball court and pool, the grove locked all the gates and made everyone sign in the front office as well as their visitors. This killed the pool atmosphere and now the only time the pool is full is after the sun goes down when they have Grove parties that have DJ's that blast bass and music so loud that things fall off of walls and calling to complain does nothing.
A perk of the grove is the great location, I could walk to campus on nice days through the wooded path.
I would have moved out sooner except I didn't feel like going through the hassle of moving all my belongings as well as my roommates' things for just one year.
As well as the gate being a safety feature, people go in through the exit and follow guests and residents in. Causing there to be so many random people with no friends or reason to be in the area, walking around late at night and making inappropriate comments to many female tenants!!!!

Advice:
Don't get an apartment overlooking the pool because it is VERY loud during all hours and watch your air/hear because the overages on utilities can get very out of hand!
Make sure to lock your car and doors because I have a feeling the security will continue to be the same or get worse!!
And don't expect to get much help from the management, every person you talk to will tell you a different story and make you think you are getting your way and then go back on their word or say that the manager is conveniently "out"!!
