You won't get a medal for bravery, no matter how much you deserve one

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007

Guys, listen. First of all, I just want to thank Apartmentratings.com in general for their service, and I want to thank every person who has written a review here. If I would have known about this website, my fiance and I would have been spared the year of living hell at Highland Heights.

Well, it looked good at first - we toured a lovely "set-up" apartment, the staff was good, the fitness center was cool, etc. (Stupidly, we didn't actually tour the apt. we were going to be living in - LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE, won't cha') Then, we actually moved into "our" apt. Yeah, they spent a bunch of money "repairing" everything, but it was like someone else said - they slapped a bunch of cheap linoleum on stuff and expected it to magically repair all the structural damage, I guess. We were on the second floor. Our dining room was LUMPY, and both of our toilets dangerously leaned to the side because of the instability when you sat on them.

Repairs were completed fairly quickly, I suppose, and the maintenance staff (especially one lady with a man's name..something like Johnny, I think) was nice. However, that does not make up for the hell you endure. In addition to the crappy apt, these things happened:

-CONSTANT LOUD MUSIC COMING FROM SEVERAL OTHER APTS. REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THE COPS CAME OUT, THEY CONTINUED TO BLAST THIS CRAP.
-LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF ROACHES BECAUSE OF FILTHY NEIGHBORS. (Unfortunately, even if you have several nice, clean, respectful, trustworthy people in a community, the filthy scumbags usually manage to mess this up. Thanks, y'all.)
-LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF TERMITES THAT MAY NOT BE THE COMMUNITY'S FAULT BUT ARE STILL DISGUSTING.
-MY FIANCE'S CAR WAS BROKEN INTO ON THANKSGIVING. (I guess the thief was thankful for...crack')
-MY CAR WAS HIT BY AN UNLICENSED, UNINSURED DRIVER WHO WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK OF ONE OF OUR LOUD DOWNSTAIRS NEIGHBORS. (Again, probably not mgmt's fault, but just take this as an omen.)
-THE TRAFFIC ON CHAMBLEE TUCKER IS VERY LOUD. AND YOU WILL GET VERY SICK OF HEARING SIRENS AT 3 AM.
-THE "FITNESS CENTER" CONSISTED OF A BUNCH OF RAG-TAG MIDDLE SCHOOLERS CAMPING OUT ON THE BIKES AND TREADMILLS JUST THERE TO WATCH THE TV INSTEAD OF WORKING OUT.
-MAINTENANCE OTHER THAN ROUTINE STUFF IS OUTSOURCED TO OTHER COMPANIES, SO YOU HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO YOU DON'T KNOW THAT GET ACCESS TO YOUR APT THROUGH THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE. P.S. YOU MIGHT JUST BE ASLEEP IN BED, NOT DRESSED FOR COMPANY, WHEN A CREEPY GUY WHO DOESN'T WORK FOR HIGHLAND HEIGHTS MIGHT COME INTO YOUR APARTMENT AND TRY TO FIX SOMETHING. SO, YOU KNOW, BE PREPARED. I WASN'T.

I complained about all this stuff about a million times, and with the exception of the nice maintenance lady, NOTHING was taken care of. Also, there are about a million more things I could mention, but I'm starting to have an anxiety attack from reliving all this crap. Take my word for it, don't move here. Your family will come to resent you for it and you might have to start taking Valium so that you can sleep through the noise.

If you are living at Highland Heights, I pray for your deliverance from this living Hell.
