Was Nice, Now Nasty

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
My husband and I bought a house in March of 2005, after living there for 3 years. Here's a few key points:
1. The type of residents in this community has drastically changed. There are fewer nice quiet young professionals and many more families. There are also many more inconsiderate neighbors who don't clean up after themselves or their pets, who park illegally, who drive like speed demons and who play very loud music.
2. The parking situation is ridiculous and parking rules are not enforced -- one night a fire truck could barely get into the complex to respond to an emergency because of all the illegally parked cars.
3. The new Equity "management" team is laughable. They don't respond to maintenance calls, tell a different story every time you talk to them and really don't care about residents.
4. The gates seldom operated properly (often trapping me inside the complex!) after Equity took over.
5. The trash compactors are often broken and trash piles up.
6. I did not personally have problems with vermin (rats, roaches) but I understand that has gotten worse since we left.
7. The apartment floor plans and design are all very attractive, but people really aren't kidding about the noise. You can hear EVERYTHING! Snoring, telephones, TV, conversations -- you name it.
Would I live here again -- well, if it were still managed by JPI, probably. As it is currently managed by Equity -- no way, in fact the steady decline of the complex under their management is one of the main reasons we broke our lease and moved out!
