It's an okay place to start...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
In April 2005, I leased a one bed, one bath at Hidden Woods for 419.00. Upon my move-in I noticed the carpet was stained, the molding around walls and doors was worn and damaged, and the front door was worn and loose. I cordially discussed all of my problems to the rent office and they took longer than usual to rectify those problems. About three months into the apartment I was robbed. Burglars kicked the faulty entrance door in while I was at work. I reported the incident to the police and to the rent office as well. Luckily, I had photos of the damaged door before I was robbed which enable me to place some of the blame on Hidden Woods. They gave me a new unit with better carpet and a sturdy entry. On the other hand, there were still small, but various mishaps in the new unit as well. I politely insisted that the property manager sign a document stating that he would rectify the problems in my unit by a certain time. The problems were eventually taken care of.
To make a long story short, Hidden Woods wasn't the best community to live in, but it wasn't the worst. In my opinion, you get what you pay for. The best advice for a renter is to: 1. Get Renter's Insurance (It is VERY CHEAP!), 2. Be cordial and nice to the rent office staff and maintenance and you will see better results. 3. Be firm but flexible about what you can and cannot tolerate. 4. Secure yourself, don't expect the landlord to do so. 5. Always be aware of your surroundings, call the police if you suspect any suspicious activity in your apartment community.
REMEMBER: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
